I can't ever see me laying down Aces here but to be honest I'd never expect to be in this position because the main problem with the hand is that you did'nt raise on the flop…right?

Awesome job on the ticket. From the play in his limp and call to your 2.5 x bet tells me he has a strong hand whic is great for you with the AA. The flop came and his bet is first and it screams a high pocket premium tt, JJ, QQ, KK. Could be on a draw but with the pot sized bet. It screams a jam on the turn and get it in. You most likely have the check. Don’t let him have other streets.

Anywho. I guess it’s a non issue for your rest of play was irrelevant. Good job shipping an Aussie.

Congrats on the Aussie Million ticket hope you get a deep run! With the hand in question though i don't think VASS ever makes a pot size bet on the flop with a flush draw or a set of 8's or 7's and so it looks for all the world that he was trying to protect an overpair. When a player leads into me on most any flop with a pot size bet and i hold Aces i will fire back 100% of the time and be sure to get it in before the turn brings any scare cards….for me or him. With a player left to act in this situation i think this further screams raise. Only my opinion though and i can only dream of playing $500 tourneys at the minute!

The villain's line kind of confuses me here. It is possible that he has an overpair but I don't know that he would play it so passively preflop (limp/call) and then so aggressively postflop. Limp/calling 33, 77 or 88 is pretty face up preflop but I think this is possible with a tricky donk lead on the flop, although I would still be surprised with a pot size lead here. I think a hand like 9Tss or similar is a plausible hand where he flops a combo draw and then value bets the turn when he hits. So, as played I think we are often behind by the turn and so a fold is best. I think I would probably just raise and get it in on the flop, then lose on the turn card and wonder why I just put most of my br on a satellite.

Congratulations on the win by the way, awesome result and good luck in the Aussie Million!

Yah i noticed the guy, making a comment on a facebook mutal friend and asked him – he reckons he hit his flush. It was still pretty early in the tournament then, his turn bet screamed call or re-raise me which made me fold

The sats to this event were 3steps… got through on a $1 rebuy the feilds were so easy, that a group of us were making money just playing these steps over and over for 2mths.

Hi congrats on the ticket!

To me the donkbet on the flop would at least be clicked back immediately to see his reaction. Allthough set and overpair are in his range, the fact that he donkbets makes me doubtfull of a set. 99+ overpairs would protect other probable holdings, which you still beat. For me its a raise or shove on the flop and the 2 tone board and str8 possibilities would make me selct the shove almost all the time.

The fact that this is a sat comes into play too tho and you can decide to get it in with better than 1 pair in other spots. Buts as stated. The donkbet would make me instashove allmost every time, depending on stage of the sat and player type.

Quite a lot of players like to donkbet a pre raiser a lot n this kinda flop which makes it airballing a lot for me… 3bShove him!!

You did not tell us anything on his style : what was his vpip, pfr and steal%? This would add some good info.

Yah I agreee with the shove, I had no information on the guy pretty sure it was his first or second hand at the table, he might be from my home town. If I limp call with low/mid pockets, I love donkbetting into a preflop aggressor if I hit my set (think this why a took a more cautious approach)

to often they have 99-JJ and play it just he same andoften they do this when they pick up the spade draw to try to get you to fold so i dont fold aces in this spot. i also dont play thinking my aces have been cracked by a set and if your worried abou the flush draw then raise the flop and get rid of the guess work.

I know what you mean ttwist, his position suggested to me if he did have 99-jj pre-flop he would have raised, to me it just spelt suited connectors, I agree that I should have re-raised on the flop but I doubt he would have folded if he was on a flush draw, I think if the turn didn't give put another spade on the board, i would have been more than likely to shove it all in (definately if I had the As). – The villian was out a short time later, which gives me a strong indication that he was chasing based on how quickly he lost his stack.

I would have reraised the flop, you want him to pay for the flush/straight draw if that is what he was hoping for. At that point you are probably ahead and do not want him to improve for cheap.
