I just came across a hand in a TPE training video that I would like to get people’s opinions about.

FTP 1K

There are a number of tough pros/regs in this field.

Small blind $300, big blind $600, $675 antes in middle

Hero is in the BB. BTN is a well-known, well-respected poker pro.

UTG $8,105

UTG+1 $14,180

MP $15,877

MP+1 $7,630

MP+2 $20,496

CO $3,997

BTN $13,935

SB $10,697

BB (HERO) $8,580

Fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, CO goes all-in for $3,997, BTN goes all-in for $13,935, fold, Hero in the BB has Ad, 10s and goes all-in for his remaining $7,980.

My immediate reaction before I saw what CO and BTN had was that I would have folded Ad, 10s if I were the hero. CO only has six and a half BBs, so it is possible he went all-in light. But BTN has 23 BBs and the fourth biggest stack at the table so it’s not like he is compelled to go crazy here although it is also possible he is trying to iso the CO’s shove.

My reason for thinking I would fold if I were in hero’s shoes is while the short-stacked CO shove may not be hugely concerning since he is so short, the fact that BTN re-shoved and has me covered is concerning. If the CO shove is folded to by BTN and SB, I would be OK with calling with Ad, 10s. But given that the BTN re-shoved/overjammed and has me covered has me thinking that hero’s Ad, 10s does not look so monstrous. If hero folds, he still has 14 BBs left.

My immediate thought was I would rather fold here and look for a situation where I can be first to act and shove with a reasonable shoving hand or possibly even just raise depending on position/chip stacks/etc., thereby placing the tough decision on someone else.

Am I being too nitty saying I would fold Ad, 10s to two late position shoves or do you agree with me that this is a fold and look for a better spot? The TPE pro in the video makes it seem like this was an obvious call for him, so am I missing something/being too conservative? I will hold off on saying what the other players had until there has been some discussion. Thoughts?

My first thougth was to fold AT as well, but i put the calling range that BTN can make on the SnapShove, considering he is BTN, and CO shove 6.5bb (can´t round it to 6.6bb), and the range BTN can call is super wide: 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q5s+, J7s+, T7s+, 97s+, 86s+, A2o+, K6o+, Q9o+, J9o+, T9o … almost 41% range, funny is that range has 41% equity vs AT cool (41.46% actually)

Since BTN is putting over 1/3 of the effective stack, I guess a shove makes sense so he tries to iso the CO player.

SnapShove give a shove for 6.5bb from CO: 22+, A2s+, K6s+, Q9s+, J9s+, T9s, A3o+, K9o+, QTo+
Calling range for BTN: 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q5s+, J7s+, T7s+, 97s+, 86s+, A2o+, K6o+, Q9o+, J9o+, T9o

About the SnapShove, I am not sure about the players behind when the stacks are bigger, if someone knows please let me know

I am runing the equity AT has against those two ranges, and it is about 32% done, runing for over 10minutes, and now I realize it is calculating AT and ATs yell, at this moment ATs,ATo has 36.54% over the two ranges(needed to complete it, but my computer is slow); And ATo is 58% favorite on BTN´s SnapShove range

Edit: I would call AJ on the first thought moment 🙂
