Hey,

Reads – V seems like a terrible player , they've been playing back at me like almost always , 3betting hero a ton.

post flop they usually play aggressively ,so when they've checked on such a wet board , realastically it seems like they've got a marginal hand which they don't want to play a big pot with.

when i got to the river i was so tempted to make a big bluff with our hand , but at the same time i was kinda worried that maybe this particular opponent will slow play a strong hand on all streets…

would u guys shove river or check it back against this particular opponent?

i guess we do have some showdown value with ace high but in terms of how wide my bluffing range should be here , it should be pretty wide imo , i'd say a number 5 (andrew will know what i mean by that)

Our value range here seems really narrow as you are 3betting JJ+ preflop. So we basically have TT, 22 and maybe JTs in our value range. Its better to check back as the turn and river do not change the board much and since villain has called flop and turn I doubt he's folding Tx on the river. We also have some decent showdown value against his double floated gutshots and OESD.

If the villain is as aggressive and awful as you have mentioned, why not 3bet and get it in preflop when you are certainly ahead?

V never raised pre flop much so i decided to flat and keep his range wide and good thing is will be postion with a hand that's likely ahead of his opening range. on the other hand given the dynamic i think its very much likely they will call a 3-bet with worse hands and i also think he's capable of 4-bet shoving with a wider value range like  ATs+ 55+ or even as a bluff.

Agree with Kalculater.

What are you getting him to fold if you shove? If he is terrible there could be some Ax hands or diamond draws he calls on the turn (with stack sizes considered) but I would think your range is ahead of most of these anyway (showdown value). Having said that, if you didn't shove the river of the 2c, what rivers are good for a shove here (if any)?

I'm trying to get him to fold hands like 77/88/99 Maybe AT which he's trying to pot control with. I guess AT is kinda unlikely though since he'll will probably bet these OOP.

I guess he could also have straight/flush draws which he's floating with and if thats the case then yeah ive got showdown value , i doubt he's got a hand like AK , again i think he would had c-bet this OTF.

This is a decision to make before you bet the turn. You need a target, and you need a plan for what it will take to make V fold that target. I think that triple barreling or betting flop and then giving up are both viable options, but that betting twice and then giving up on river is giving V exactly what he wants, which is a cheap opportunity to pick off small bluffs with a medium strength hand without having to face any real pressure.

well stated.  (I think your turn bet needed a plan.)  He check-called the flop bet and the 4c changes nothing.  If you decide to bet the turn, then you probably want to have seriously considered the 3 barrel in advance.  If not, you can check the turn then bluff the river with far less risk and a more credible line.

i agree andrew, i've been putting in a lot of time in the bluffing series and i'm pretty much practising. Just takes a lot of experience  and as you gradually improve your hand reading skills you will be able to exploit your opponents and pretty much know how wide your bluffing range should be.

ty everyone 🙂
