Dakota318 had been playing fairly passive. Limping and check calling most of the time. My initial read after he called my flop bet was that he was on a flush draw. Thoughts on if I could/should have played the hand differently.

Ok. interesting hand. I really dont think the hand is 100% necessary to play. KJo out of position is tough to play. You said yourself this guy is calling and check/calling alot so his range is probably very wide and if you hit a K or J on flop you dont know if your kicker is good or if he could flop two pair or even a set. It is nitty but I fold with 23bb's and save my chips for spots that are +EV and in which I can play position and be the aggressor.
Since you chose to play, I understand you have pot odds pre, I would try and keep the pot small. If you lose a big pot you lose your fold equity for the rest of the tournament. So I would check/call flop…..turn is great so throw in little less than half pot (he will call with his flush draw)……river does complete draws so check/call……hines site u still lose but you his range is so wide u are not sure if he has J9 or even 44 with a set.
****Another great play is to just shove pre here. If he is limping in middle position he is likely folding to your 23 bigblind shove and you take down a nice pot of blinds and antes. If he is passive (check/calling a lot) I think a shove pre is best. If he is a calling station even to big bets and all in's I fold pre. Dont limp oop with KJo!!! Even with pot odds.
Yeah. After looking over the hand again today and just going through it in my head, I really don't like my bet sizing and the aggressive approach I took. I think folding Pre is solid too. KJo OOP is usually just going to get you into tough spots. It was difficult just cause of the odds (almost 8 to 1). But I like the check/calling approach. After looking at it again I could have saved almost 2000 chips, assuming he doesn't overbet the pot and put me all in on the river. Would have still lost of course, but would still have 10-15bb or so. Thanks for the reply and your insights. Much appreciated!
my read is a bit different. villain is passive. limping and calling a ton. which makes kj very playable vs this villian even OOP. in fact i come into this pot with a raise and never limping vs such villians as their limping/calling ranges are very wide and kj is crushing their range a bunch. nice cbet. turn bet is large. at these stakes guys pay very little mind to pot odds and there chances of winning so u cant price very many pple out with big bets. scale ur turn bet down so u have less to call on river when we check.
