Hi All,

I'm comfortably above average stack size approaching the bubble.

Must have been a “rush of blood to the head type spazz” by me but in the hope of good discussion I don't mind publicising my donkplay!

Presuming that when my reraise gets called I should have shut down?

Tks,

Kev.

By raising on the flop you set villain up (almost force him) to check to you again on the turn, which allows you to check behind and take the free card. As played I would do exactly that. I like the raise on the flop for these two reasons, one it allows you to win the pot now and secondly it allows you a perhaps cheaper way of drawing by taking a free card on the turn when villain checks to you.

I agree take the free card on the turn and evaluate the river. Your in position so you can call or fold based on what he bets since you rivered 3rd pair. I would probably fold unless we are given just a sick price to call.

95% of the time the flat call by the villain here = I have a queen if a non-club comes on the Turn I'm getting it all-in.

I probably size my raise smaller, too – somewhere closer to a min-raise instead of a full 3X. You'll still get your check on the Turn or he'll go all-in and you can fold.

Definitely take the free card. This is why you semi-bluff a board like this.
