<apologies for the hand format , I can't get the converter to work>

HI

Was playing a feeder sat last night , only one place got paid with 4 players left , I was shortest stack.

I just wanted some clarification on whether the call I made was right or not . Personally I think looking back , it was marginal and I should of folded it..cry

Im thinking that I should of waited for a hand to shove with , but im possibly being results orientated..

Villain in question had been wielding the big stack and stealing blinds regularly , he showed junk two hands previously, I felt from what I had seen him show and showdown that I was prob flipping or slight fav..

Blinds are now 150 / 300 + 25
Seat 1: Button – 3,946
Seat 3: SB – 5,114
Seat 8: BB – HERO – 3,190
Seat 9: UTG – VILLAIN – 10,250
Shuffling Deck
Moving Button to seat 1
Pot sizes: 100
SB posts small blind (150)
BB posts big blind (300)
Dealing Cards
Dealing [8 c][8 d] to HERO
VILLAIN raises to 10,225 (all-in)
BUTTON folds
SB folds
HERO calls 3,165 (all-in)

I wouldnt be folding this if you have 10bb with 88 in the BB against a guy stealing frequently. He shouldn't be open shoving UTG with AA or KK or AK (maybe QQ) because he should want action with those hands. So i put his range pretty wide being 55+ maybe 44+ (excluding the premiums mentioned) any Ax lot of broadways. i think you call, close your eyes and cross your fingers.

Although its a satty, it is a winner take all event you do need all the chips. Your M is 6 and its 4 handed so you dont have a lot of options.

yap based on the stacksize – instacall for me

most of the time its a flip, but you crush every small pair and you are ahead of a baby ace. you are only crushed by 99 – JJ cause i also think most players wouldnt raise all in with QQ-AA in this situation.

thanks for the replies.

He turned over 99 ,  the fact that he pushed rather than raised like he had been previously did make me think he wasn't doing this with a monster, so I did feel the call was right at the time. Its the devil on my shoulder telling me afterwards that It could of been wrong.

Its all good though – a year ago I would of been too scared and would of folded without thinking it through so Im going in the right direction.

This is just an unlucky spot for you.  10bb agg player pushes.  I agree he isn't doing this with his monsters as he just showed you junk so that when he raises his premium he gets action.  I think a lot of people are just shoving the smaller pairs to take away the 3bet shove play from people.  I call here also feeling very good about being ahead looking to double into 2nd place.

He's always got mid pairs 55-TT and a bunch of Ax's and broadways that play well when called and we have some of his range crushed.

Another point i always consider, and you should too here, is what would the game be like if we folded.

by this i mean what are our future stealing opportunities like relative to the stacks AND player types around us

This guy who is 1) the huge stack bully and 2) aggresive, is directly to our left. This means he will almost certainly make our life hard. After all he can afford to open his range up when we shove 10BB's into him, thus making our shoves LESS effective in the long run

Also, when we are in the BB and SB, the other small stacks at the table are going to be shoving into us, again making our life hard b/c we are most of the time going to be the ones constantly ranging our opponents and calculating if we should make a call or not.

Lets face it – everyone knows how easy it is to shove 10BB's – but calling off is a whole different story

For the reasons mentioned above i think a call is correct
