I think I’ll preface this hand with what the std. play should be in a smaller buy in mtt; fold. I will also say I did fold, and went and looked at the bovada HH and found that this dude actually turned an Ax combo into  a bluff on the river (A3dd). So I guess my question here is how many bluff catchers should we call with, and which ones are best via blockers etc. I dicked around w flopzilla and had him getting to river with a straight w about 13% of his range that gets to the river, and then 75% top pair combos for what thats worth.

My thinking is that KK and QQ have to be our best bluff catchers, blocking KT/QT, I don’t know how I feel about hands like AK since we block KT, but also block his Ax combos as well, my hand 88 doesn’t block anything so maybe just not blocking an Ace makes it a bluff catcher?

srry HH looks shitty; basically I open w 88 utg+2, only bb defends off of 18bb stack, ck/c flop and turn, then donk jams river AcKsQd8hJs board

Seems like a small bet on the turn (40%). Betting more gives you better odds to call the river and gives him worse odds to call the turn. This way you’re risking more when you’re ahead and less when you could be behind.

To answer your question, I think a better bluff-catching hand for you would be something like QJ or 98 because they can block hands like QT, JT, T9.

Interesting conversation guys. I think I prefer smaller bet on flop, bigger on turn. I mean, this is not a great hand to bet on flop at all, but I think your range advantage is large enough that you can get away with it, at least when stacks are deep enough to allow for some triple barreling (not that I’d triple this exact hand unimproved). That also means that smaller sizing is probably best, as even when V is getting goods your range is strong enough that it’s hard for him to peel stuff like Q9s.

On river I agree with this being a fold and would also generally be OK with folding exploitably much in this spot. Don’t forget you should have a fair bit of Tx here yourself.

agree with andrew. As EP raiser we have a significant range advantage on these kind of boards vs OOP defends.

Thus we can bet at pretty much 100% frequency with our entire range with a bet in the range of 25-30% of the pot.

Turn we can than pot control or bet big with our nutted hands.

River as played i fold too.

btw re think your bluff catchers.
