Reads on villian – Not too many hands played with him since he got moved in.  He’s been relatively tight.  I saw him cbet a standardish flop and c/f a mildly scary turn.  No other strong reads.

I cbet the flop into 2 players hoping to take it down right there.  The flat call looks very strong to me so I am pretty sure I am beat.  Big flush draws would be raising me here so I am thinking QJ, AQ, KQ, or a made flush.  I check the Q turn which I think looks strong.  He leads very small. Despite the fact that this looks kinda weak I think I should be folding here every time. I am out of position so this is the last information I am going to get from him. He’s relatively tight and this may be how he plays monsters.  I elect to call though and the river comes a great bluffing card if I think he has a Q so I decide to fire.

It’s a hard hand to judge because of the glaring mistake in calling the turn but I am more interested in the read – what would you put him on?  With the size of the pot and his stack behind do you think he is getting away from a Q here?  Does he have the flush often enough with the check flop, lead turn?

Thanks for any insight.

I think its rather ambitious that your bluff target are trips Queen,it’s very unlikely v is folding trips otr. I like the bet otf for value/protection , i’d be tempted to check/shove turn , i doubt v will bet like this with a monster ott but they may try and make a weird bet like this with a draw.

as for v having a flush , i think its unlikely rather then likely, its not very often you’d flop a flush , so i think flushes are heavily discounted from V range and so are sets given the action otf.

otr i’d check/fold.

Gotta check this flop and evaluate. You pick up a lot of information by checking here. The BTN can bet and the BB can fold raise or call. Or the BTN can check and BB can check/or bet turn. Lots of information.

Things aren’t going to get easier on the turn as you allude to, but that is not a case for putting more money in the pot imo. This is an action flop that won’t get a ton of folds.

The turn? Hmm. You’re getting 4.3-1 on a call. Not sure if this is a super accurate depiction of villain’s turn range, but:

Board: QhJh7hQc
Equity Win Tie
MP2 83.57% 81.18% 2.39% { 77, AQs, KQs, QJs, AhTh, Ah9h, Th9h, Ah8h, 9h8h, Ah6h, Ah5h, Ah4h, Ah3h, Ah2h, AQo, KQo, QJo, AhJs, AhJc, AhTd, AhTs, AhTc, Ah9d, Ah9s, Ah9c }
MP3 16.43% 14.04% 2.39% { AsJd }

If we put JT and J9 in there, our equity sky rockets. So, this could be a fine call, depending on who villain is and how you construct his range.

Not that life will be too easy for us on the river, however. Maybe that is reason enough to fold.

His value range is packed full of flushes, full houses, and maybe Qx, but I think that may bet closer to half pot.

So, on the river, what hands do you think he plays this way that doesn’t include a heart?

Are you check/calling with one heart on a paired board, to jam a heart river for value?

Would smell fishy to me, and I think villain has a heart a lot here.

I also think we should be checking the flop. Once we get called we’re kind of in “no man’s land” on the turn. I’d be calling the small turn bet once the queen pairs with the intention of check-folding the river. I hate the river bluff – the villain is going to have lots of flushes and some full houses. Remember, the villain can have a decent amount of flushes with his Q.

Thank you for the responses, guys.  Villian had AhQs.  The flop check is great advice and something I should be implementing a lot more oop to gain information and for pot control.  Thanks again!
