I think this is a decent hand to check raise bluff here as he should bet most of his Jx on the turn and we block AT, QQ and JQ. I'm pretty sure once he bets this river our hand is never good. Is that likely to be right? Villain is playing 19/16 over 81 hands. w$wsf is 73% (8/11) so he's has a clue but seems over agg.
Thoughts on this hand? Too fancy for the Bigger 5.50? Thoughts on sizing? Looking back, I'm not delighted that he's getting 2-1 and might prefer a bigger raise

Yes, I agree you're rarely good here when he bet river but there's also not much you can do about it the way the hand played out. The problem with your CR is that you're repping exactly the kind of hand that you have, a missed flush or straight draw. I mean what strong hand could you possibly have that checked the BB, CC flop, C turn, C river and then suddenly raised? Any legit hand would have started betting earlier, especially since you're quite deep.
Also: W$WSF of 11 hands means nothing

I like the creativity, but I don't agree that checking turn has to cap Villain's range. I don't know that I'd want to go for a check-raise on the river if I had a big hand, either. Especially at smaller stakes, most players aren't very good at making thin value bets, which makes check-raising rivers less appealing generally. You're right that this is a good candidate for your bluffing range, but even if you are going to have a check-raising range, I can imagine not having any bluffs in it for exploitive reasons in a $5 tournament. I mean, presumably you're trying to make him fold top pair for one bet on the river, right?

What do you think the best hand he checks back on the turn is? AT? Is he checking many Jx? I understand what you mean about it being a $5 tournament but I will add thats it's the Bigger $5.50 on a Sunday and a lot of good players will play this and the big 8.80,$11 sunday storm etc just because its around $8k for 1st. So there is a chance he might bet-fold AK

I don't see why he couldn't/shouldn't check some QJ/KJ.

I just don't think he bets 2.5bb into 6bb on a connected board with a flush draw on it and checks back the near nuts on the turn. I don't think he'd expects me to fold anything on the turn (Kx, oesd+pairs, fd's). Players in the Big 5.50 sometimes go nuts with 0 equity so from his point of view, he probably wants to get as much money in as possible, especially as the aggressor in position.
I doubt he's worried about looking too strong and balancing his range here, especially on the button vs BB. Maybe I'm wrong on this
