I’m loathe to post hands like this as I really should have a better grasp of these spots.

Worried I’m still not risk averse enough in later stages.

A $5 Bovada mtt, 40 or so left.

The flatter is a pretty big fish, and I’m certainly a favorite against his range.

After punching everything into equilab I’m essentially flipping against their combined ranges. I realize things are complicated by the split pot, but I’m really just wondering if I should avoid big flips like this at this stage.

Don’t know if it’s a browser error or something but for me the post stops at “Pre Flop (pot 4400) Hero has QhQs”.

I’m assuming the action goes UTG shoves, SB calls and it’s up to you. Small sample, but I’d be a little less inclined to believe a 35/12 is going to be flatting a monster super often. I’m shoving over top of this and either flipping with UTG with 30k+ dead (which is an awesome outcome) or even getting it in against both isn’t bad as sometimes they will both have big aces and be blocking each other. You’re only flipping against AK, and these guys can easily have AQ/JJ-99 in their ranges as well. I’m not going to claim to be an MTT math expert, but I feel like this spot is too big to pass up.

Flipping in a spot where you’re getting 2:1 on your money is a massive edge.

Yeah I did gii, and I generally always do ;).

I guess I’m having trouble distinguishing spots where I should value my tournament life a bit more.

Generally only when ICM considerations are in play, or earlier in a tournament where you have a massive edge on the field. Most people hugely overestimate their edge, though, so it’s probably best not to make too many decisions based on ‘tournament life’.

I’d imagine there’s almost no chance you’re “not risk averse enough” in the later stages – in fact, if you’re even considering folding QQ in a spot like this, I’d imagine you’re probably a little too risk averse.
