Ok, so I have been a TPE member for a little over a week and have been watching vids and listening to pod casts and just had a revelation about a hand in the Borg 15k …

This hand had been bugging me because after the hand I felt REALLY nitty and figured I butchered it, but now I feel like I finally understand how. I’d love some feedback to see if I’m on the right track.

I’d been playing pretty tight through 9 levels, though managed to chip up to about 24k thanks to pocket aces 3 times.

Antes are 100, I think and blinds are 800/1600. I was so stack size unaware at the time, it’s sick.

UTG +1, who has been opening a lot if hands (some pretty questionable ones too) opens to 2500. It folds to me on the button and I look down at AJo. I think “this is my spot to do something” so true to my nitty play, I call.

This was mistake #1. I should have pretty much snap shoved here, right? Ugh, seems SO obvious now. I’m thinking at the time that I was still above 10BB, so no need to gamble. Damn Harrington! Sorry if I made anyone sick here.

On to mistake #2. The small blind, who has only been on our table for 3 obits thinks for a second, then shoves behind. Original raiser snap folds. I tank for a minute or so and fold as well.

I should be shot. Also a snap call, I guess.

The sickest part is the next hand, the shover shoves again and gets called with 78o and goes out. If only I had joined up BEFORE going to AC. I was eliminated a few hands later Live and learn, I suppose. I promise to do better.

Let the abuse begin.

Are you sure with the blinds at 800/1600 he made it 2500, he couldn't have done that.  He would have had to make it 3200……..

I played today and it was an ABSOLUTE fish pond out there today.  There were other TPE members playing and they would all agree.

About your had, I would hold off shoving it depending on who's behind and what their stacks are.  When playing live, you don't have to shove 15bb's or 12 bb's or 10……… Not saing I run it down to 5bb's all the time, but I'll make sure I'm the one open jamming and not calling with AJ.

It was so bad today, there's a limp in front of me, (we're at 75/150) 1 limper in c/o, I'm on btn w/ JJ (Fish is on my left in SB, he had been calling/limping a bunch) so I make it 700. The Fish tries to limp 150 and doesn't realize I raised. But he calls my raise to 700.  Flop K83, checked around, bet on turn, I fold.  Fish hit 2 pair on turn. W/ 2c3h  lol, really….

This was a look at how juicy the MILLION gtd Borgata event 1 on Sept 5th/6th is going to be.

Glgl getting better Sir, This site will help your game.

I could be off on the blind sizes, but it was pretty close. Maybe they were the blinds when I was knocked out, so that coils make a difference.

AJ is so deceptive. It's like AK's ugly little sister. I don't think a shove was the automatic play as opposed to a 3-bet based on a read. Calling and limping though is almost always a bad choice. If you'd made it 4800 (if the big is 1600) after his min raise you'd get an idea if he's ready to play for all his chips. Likely you were the victim of a well executed squeeze play. A good squeeze play is almost as gratifying as flopping a set.

If villain has been active and is opening a lot of hands I rip AJo all day in this spot. If hes been nitting sweaters then its an easy fold and you can wait for a better spot. Flatting is horrible obv and I think you realize this now.

Everything JLUDE just said.  He's a LIVE beast, especially after his wins & solid Vegas trip 😉
