$570 Buy In Live tournament.
195 People. Down to 45 and 18 pay. Good payouts in Top 6.

Blinds: Very last hand at 1000/ 2000/ 300 (goes up to 1200/2400/400 next hand)

I have 100k (about average stack) and Villain is big stack at table at about 300k ish

Villain is 45-50 yr old white guy who seems TAG ish. Bets a lot of pre-flop at 3x and then follows pretty big – i.e he bloats pots. Hasn't shown down much at this point.

Pre- Flop: V raises to 6k from Hi-jack. Folds around to me in BB. I call with 3s 4s.

Pot = 16k
Flop: 5s 6s Jd
I check. V bets 12k. My plan and intention was to GII here and i ck rzd to like 35 or so (I grabbed a chunk of chips and dropped them quickly and said raise. He snap shoves. I call, of course.

My intent with this post is really 2 things:
– to find out if playing this pre-flop is a huge leak/ small leak/ OK to do now and again/ good to do? LIKE…at 40-50 bigs is it OK to look for these spots now and again from BB?
– post flop I think the chk raise is correct but maybe some verification?

Yeah I think that is a fold pre.

The 3x sizing, and the knowledge that villain likes to cbet large, doesn't give us a lot of room to play back at him.

Even when he min raises pre, I don't think this is a great spot for a call.

I don't think this is really a hand we want in our BB flatting range, unless there are a couple flats behind the original opener.

I haven't crunched the numbers, but even when he min raises I think we have to be pretty confident on our ability to play against him out of position.

Some hands are nice to flat in the BB with great odds, plus the knowledge that it'll be push/fold on the flop or a very easy decision. Don't think 34s is going to ever be too easy post often enough.
