Hi, I’ve been tracking my results in Hold’em Manager recently and got to this results graph within a month of playing mostly 45/90 player sit & gos in the micro stakes (2.50$ average buy-in, regular speed):

Results Graph

Most people have been telling me that it’s normal for the red non-showdown line to go steadily downwards while the blue showdown curve should be enough to keep the net profit going upwards.

Now that my non-showdown and showdown curve even each other out perfectly I am not sure where the problem is since I don’t have much experience with these kind of graphs..

Is my loss from non-showdown hands going down too steeply? Or am I just not getting enough value from the hands that I do showdown? Or is it possible that this mean I’m playing too loosely and have to give up too many hands before showdown as a result?

I’ve also been wondering whether there is a difference between what an optimal graph should look like at high stakes compared to micro stakes, if it matters I’m mostly playing a tight aggressive style (20% VPIP, 15% preflop raise, 66% postflop aggression)

I know it’s kind of hard to find leaks just from the results graph but I’m not sure where to start looking for my mistakes and hopefully someone can still point me in the right direction or tell me what’s wrong with my graph..

Thanks for the help!

While you wait for a better response, let me ask you this: Are you doing hand history reviews of the tournaments you’ve already played? Even if you’re not looking for a mistake in particular, try to see if you find anything that doesn’t make sense once you’ve stepped away from the table for a while. We all can find decisions that made sense at the time, and they can provide learning opportunities afterward.

I have been saving single hands of a tournament to look at them later, possibly check the numbers in Icimizer or post them here in the forum, but I never really looked at the hand history of a whole tournament since I couldn’t find a way to replay it properly.

I’m usually playing at 4 tables so all my hands end up getting mixed together in my hold’em manager, is there any way to filter them by the tournament they were played in?

I’m guessing they have to be because I’ve seen hand history videos on here where the pro mentions he missed a spot because he was playing too many tables or that he stopped adding tournaments because he was so deep in this one. Might have to do with which replayer you use.

Generally I would imagine that if your red line is going solidly downwards and your blue line is going solidly upwards, there are no overarching leaks you can discern from that graph alone. If you’re ending up breaking even overall, then it’s likely a collection of much smaller leaks that are contributing to you not achieving a higher winrate.

Not all relevant info about your leaks can be gleaned from graphs – you should be taking the time to analyse hands you’ve played and consider potential mistakes. Focus on this, and you’ll be able to pinpoint the tiny errors in your thought processes that could be eroding your winrate.
