Hello, this is my first post here. I just signed up for this site within the last few days to try it out. Browsing through the forums it seems like this site is a site thats built to larger stack/larger buy in tournaments. However, my question is my home game and smaller tournaments. No matter what I do it seems, I always have a large stack going into a break but as soon as a break hits, I'm card dead. I cant seem to get off of the 8,3 train that comes after the break. I try to make moves and pick spots based on position and players and just run into a caller every time. Therefore, Im not winning much and out by 6th as the blinds get too steep and I have no choice but to push with a not so adventurous 9,4 or 5,10. Ive been told numerous times to ride it out and not change my play but it seems it gets me every tournament no matter where I play. What the heck do I do to counter act this issue?

How do always build the large stack before break? Do more of that. = ) It seems rather odd that before break you always get good cards, but after break you always get rags…
Thats exactly what happens. I get good cards, and I use position. But after the break Im stuck getting 8,3 off 9,4. Q, 2 K,3; etc.
Eventually it will turn around and you will get shit cards the whole time. Or good cards the whole time. or shit cards before the break and good cards after. You can't control the cards you get. Play every hand optimally and if you still lose, you have nothing to be upset about. In games like this (which I assume you are not playing ALL that frequently) it simply takes longer to get to the long run. If I use my home game as a comparison, which we play about once per week, it would probably take at least a year to play the same number of hands as I play in a single night online. And it is really not all that rare to go a whole night online experiencing what you have described.
So buckle in, because it could be a rough year

Yeah, I'll second Derek's advice. You're too focused on short periods where it's actually statistically very likely that you'll be card dead for a while. I would recommend just trying to play every hand as best you can and not trying to 'force the action' by playing trashy hands unnecessarily. That's just going to hurt your stack even more.
