hi guys,

this hand came up during the recent Champion CHip Tournament on Ongame.

Villain in this hand runs 19/14 with 6.2% 3bet (he 3bet from MP 4/24 possibilities). Fold to Cbet is 67% all on 175 hands

His OPF says ABI of 260$ with 2% ROI on 320games

i was running 21/18 with 64% Cbet Flop and 50% Cbet turn

all_eyezonme (MP2): t4930 30.81 BBs

Pre Flop: (t240) Hero is UTG+2 with J of clubs A of clubs
2 folds, Hero raises to t320, Sirocko1 calls t320, 6 folds

Flop: (t880) 9 of spades Q of clubs A of hearts (2 players)
Hero ???

what you think his preflop range looks like?

 i would say something like:

AA-88,AQo,AQs-AJs,KQs-KJs,QJs,JTs,T9s with AA,KK 50% discounting

FLOP:

on the flop what is he calling with?

i d say everything that has me beat, including top pair, 2P+. maybe raising 99?

so if he calls with all his mid pairs and top+ he has me beat 48% of the time

together this means he folds 42% of the time to my Cbet and i have him beat 52% of the time when he calls.

Is this enought to justify a Cbet here? what are the plans for future streets?

how you react to:

1.) flat

2.) raise

3.) shove

we will look at the future streets once we get there 😀

cheers

I'm pretty comfortable checking flop and disguising our range but vs. someone with a higher ABI who isn't a whale we need to do it in a balanced way, obviously. No matter how this hand played out I'd remember I checked top pair with backdoor clubs and a blocker to straight combos so I could think about my flop ranges from there.

I'm not checking to c/r. That seems really stupid.

If we have him beat I think we have a 2 streets of value hand more often than not but by checking we can get him to stab and get 3 streets where we wouldn't do so by betting.

We also widen his turn and river calling range by checking flop.

hmm Coolers very well said.

guess its  a 2streets hand on a very dry board where we do not get much value out of worse hands.

guess checking is the default play here tbh

well, in game i bet 480 into 880 and he calls

so we see a turn

turn is Tspade

with the board now

Turn: (t1840) 9 of spades Q of clubs A of hearts Tspade

Hero ???

villain has about 2PSB left

what are you doing here?
