I'm pretty comfortable checking flop and disguising our range but vs. someone with a higher ABI who isn't a whale we need to do it in a balanced way, obviously. No matter how this hand played out I'd remember I checked top pair with backdoor clubs and a blocker to straight combos so I could think about my flop ranges from there.
I'm not checking to c/r. That seems really stupid.
If we have him beat I think we have a 2 streets of value hand more often than not but by checking we can get him to stab and get 3 streets where we wouldn't do so by betting.
We also widen his turn and river calling range by checking flop.
