I’m struggling with this one as it comes up all the time in low buy ins. Ill pick up QQ-AK in the blinds when the blind are low and there will be 6 or more limpers. What’s the best bet size here as most of them will call any 3-5x after limping and cant fold anything when they hit which increases variance.

Cheers.

This is very frustrating at low buy-ins, I hate getting premiums in the early levels as often you win small and lose big. That said i now have the mindset that I dont have the 'right' to win that hand just because its a premium and dont get carried away with them. I've adjusted my strategy for the early stages OOP eg in SB or BB

With AK AQ if it's limped 4/5 way I may juice the pot a little by raising 4-5bb if I hit then bet for value if I miss and its still multi way I just check and give up and wait for next spot. Dont chase AK AQ on flop you missed.

Similar with QQ+, you have to be prepared to get away from the hand if you have multi opponents and the board runs out ugly. but if you think opponenet is overvauling Top pair and you have that beat pump the hell out of it, if you dont have top apri beat eg QQ on KT8 flop, and you are still getting pressure on a safe turn ie not A, 9, J then either proceed with caution or fold.

That said, there is not a lot you can do about the spaz out plays, just grit your teeth and go with your gut feel of whether you think you are far enough ahead to commit your tourney life. THe below hand (happened to me yesterday) was from a $109 buyin tourney, and it can be just as spazy, I was gutted with the outcome but I'll take that spot every day of the week.

The probably old school way of approaching it is to add one bb to your normal raise for every limper. So if you normally 3x and there are 3 limpers then make it 6x. But I'd say it's really table dependent, the goal here is to reduce the number of opponents whilst also building a pot so there is no point in putting in a 3x when you know everyone is going to make the call. If you know there are some real stations at your table then I have no problem with 10x'ing over multiple limpers to iso them.

Thanks sounds like a good idea to try. I used to think it was old school as well but just saw ttwist doing it in the micro millions vid (3x+1) over 1 limper. Seems to be the way with micro stakes in early levels as they don’t really notice.
