Live Survivor Tourney. 2/400/50 9 handed. I have 5800 of 20k start. 2 limpers I look at AA in SB. I make it 1200. Both call. Flop 4 10 K. I lead 1400. 1st limper makes it 3100. We get it in and he flopped set of 4s.

Was raising OK or should I have simply shoved? I was short stack at the table after doubling up someone 2 hands before.

what was the stacksizes for v?

I prefer shoving tbh, they'll look at a hand like 44/55/66 and probably call your shove hoping that they are flipping, so yeah just get it in 🙂

in a random live donkament i am never shoving here pre. its ridicoulus how much people limp/fold vs 10-15BB stacks. use this to make exploiting plays.

make it 1200-1600 and hope they call.

gii on any flop obv

Agree with Florian. Perfect as played just unlucky. If they were competent players yes sometimes I would shove to look the weakest if you believe they are stack size aware and that you are only raising (not shoving) with value hands.

I may have found a leak, so basically its OK to make an exploitative play with the top of your range against opponents that will limp/fold a ton? we don’t need to balance our range here by shoving the top/middle and bottom off our range?

If I have AA here I’m jamming and if i had a hand like 78s I’m jamming , i’m very unlikely just to raise 78s or JQs (that would be terrible), so by doing it with only the top of your range , players will just fold to your raise in the future if they pick up on that, which im sure better players will on the table…

plus your hand looks very nutted when you raise with a 15-20bb stack size after 2 limpers , especially if you have been on the tighter side , just seems like your turning your hand face up and that’s never a good thing!

I don't know whether this answers your question, but the reason for balancing your range is to make it harder for opponents to read you. If they're illiterate, balancing is a waste of time. (But I suppose it's always good practice, and you never know when someone is sharper than they look.)

Balancing my range seems to be something I definitely need to work on. I will read up on how to fill this leak. Thanks for all the comments.
