Having watched the recent BigDog videos I've been trying to open up my 3bet shoving with hands such as this one. I'm comfortable shoving 15-20BBs vs a LP open with hands like medium pocket pairs and suited connectors like JTs, QJs, but when the open comes from earlier and my hands is weaker I'm not sure of the correct play. Would you shove this hand here? I have stats for the player, but would like thoughts on jamming here first. My thinking was… I have a hand that plays fairly well if called and I have enough chips to get him to fold. Do these sorts of shoves only work in higher buy-in games?

For me it depends on the tendencies of MP1. Was he playing-raising a lot of hands? Its close for me if he is very aggro and you def have fold equity vs the opening range of a loose player and stacks are perfect but if he is tight raising 10-12% PF being MP1 I think I can find a better spot to ship. If I am readless I think I can put my chips to better use given his position, if he were CO or Button I might reship here even if he were a tighter player.

If you have stats you should share them….they are relevant to the answer.  I'd fold because he's opening into a resteal stack from early position.  That generally implies a decent hand.

I say fold as well, with no info. or history. Is 3x his normal raise size? These spots do depend on the opponent and their stats, so it would help to provide them.

yeah in general i'd fold here, but agree that the answer is hard to say without knowing what you know about the openers tendencies.

i'd want to be pretty damn confident that not only is he aggressive, but specifically that he steals wide form early/midlle position before i jam this light. i'd also want to be pretty confident that he'll fold to a 16BB jam. there are players who just don't really raise/fold to ~15BB resteals.

Thanks for the responses guys. Villain is 17/17 over 54 hands. 1/12 pfr from EP. 4/13 from MP. 3/17 from LP.

I'd fold as well especially based on those stats…..

Yeah. I was leaning toward a fold against a random. His stats make me snap fold and find a better spot.
