If I did the math right, you are getting at least 2.5 for the call. I would make the call and see how it proceeds post-flop.

I fold.  I'm really not okay with set mining for 1/5th of my stack and T-boy is acting super strong with all that action in front of me.  It's a roll my eyes spot, but I def think this is shove or fold and i lean towards a fold.

Is there a range of BB, that one should be mining with if they are last to act like in the above spot? My advice is obviously a leak in my game. Would you ever mine this hand and what would be the min. stack size? I find myself in this spot a lot with pocket pairs but I have been looking at the price I get, not so much my stack size.

So sick:

Id fold/mummble to myself

Praetor:

I'd say a call is okay to mine when both you and villaain have about 15x the bet size of the raise amont. In this hand  Captain has $1355 to call. So a set mine can be profitable when both Captain and T-Boy have stacks of 20,325 (which is obv a pretty rare situation)

In this specific hand we might be able to mine w 13x effective stack sizes considering t-boy is very likely to stack off when we hit, and we may get called by one of the two players left behind as well, which would increase our implied odds

I firmly disagree with the 15x rule, but that's for another day.

We aren't even closing the action.  Mining here is irrelevant because it's not guaranteed that the guys behind us might pinch off and not allow us to even see a flop.

Wein: I'm interested to hear your thoughts on what stack size you can mine profitably if you dn't mind? I can open a seperate thread if we think answering in this thread is a hijack.

Thanks

I don't know the 15x rule. In the future I will be more mindful of my stack instead of donking off chips just because of a good price. Thanks Wein your post was an eye opener, I was overplaying hands because of pot odds. I am good at laying it down with the river to come, but been donking off with the flop and turn. smile Good lesson to learn before mini ftops.

+1 to what Wein said.

For set mining it is the 5% rule. Should not ever call for more than 5% of the effective stack on a speculative hand. GL
