I think folding here on the flop is too nitty. A 4 bet PF would probably take it down and if not, you could really start to narrow the button raisers range if he just calls your 4 bet.
I would probably chk/call and re-evaluate on the turn as there are hands that he could be betting that you have crushed. Semi bluffs, 2 suited clubs are possible as well as all the Kings in his range AK, KQs, KQo,KJs,KJo,K10s,K10o etc but he could have many other hands that you are crushing like any mid pp for example. He has a big stack and 3 bet on the button which really is not that credible these days.
I think the OLD me would prob just fold the QQ on the flop but after watching some of the pros videos they probably chk/call and see what happens on the turn. Perhaps he was just taking his one shot on the flop with something like 99 or 1010 and is prepared to shut it down once he gets called or raised. It’s so hard to narrow his range here IMO and I need alot of help with trying to determine what his possible range(s) are in this situation so you are not alone here as to what to do.
His 1/3 poke bet on the flop seems week to me and he is either begging for a raise or he’s weak and hates the King on the flop. Without some history or reads it’s tough to determine what to do here and what he has but I think I def get to the turn and see what develops.
Wonder what the pros think about this situation
Thanks for posting.
To be honest, that button re-raise looks like a 3-bet steal, he could be doing it very light. I like a 4-bet pre here. Bump it up to 32kish~ and call any all-ins. If you are flatting with QQ OOP, you are looking to get yourself into sticky situations.
As played, I peel off one card even with the K on the board. If he continues barrelling on the turn, I give up.
Im not Ron, bigdog or Wein but here’s my opinion. We’ve been at the table for 20 hands and has played only 2 hands. This gives us a somewt tight image. Lets make it work for us. Put in 4bet. Do we think the 3bettor has read on initial raiser and this is why he makes the play he makes? Anyway we have a strong hand and must play it that way. We’re gettng fold from initial raiser high %of the time and can re- evaluate a shove from 3bettor.(Im not folding to shove btw) If we make our 4bet around 29k -31k it still leaves with around 40bbs if we decide on fold to a shove….. Because we”ve played the hand passivley, we can check call flop bet re evaluated turn but by this time we’re starting to commit ourselves to pot if we havent already and endangering our stack.
hope this helps

I don’t like the flat pre… i’d either shove or 4bet, either i would think is fine. I really hate the fold on the flop. With that flop, he could be 3-betting so light pre and I don’t necessarily think he’s gonna have the K there a lot of the time. I’d probably check call the flop and re-evaluate on the turn. I am just thinking of how I would play my hand if I was the button… If i had a hand like A10 or AJ on that flop I think I’m going to continuation bet, especially since you have a tighter image. I could be wrong, but the fold on the flop I really don’t like.
I would 4bet/get it in preflop only because I think he has AK and we’re ahead of AK with the dead money in the pot. I do not think his 3bet is a light steal as he made it 14000 over a 4000 raise, over 3x. I think he makes it less with AA/KK but obv he can have those sometimes. I think he has AK/JJ a lot of the time to make getting this in preflop okay. As played, I think folding flop is fine.
