Should I be going for thinner value here or do you think it was right to play it safe?

Hi
I think you played it well. With two calls on the flop the probability of an ace is pretty important so yes I would check the turn, betting is kind of a bluff here. It could be an interesting line too, turning your hand into a bluff and shoves on non spade river to rep AK/AQ and make fold smaller aces but don't think villains profile's are good for that.
On the river they never call with worse (maybe Jx if the guy is retarded but that's it) and never fold an ace after your turn check so EZ check back.
We can discuss about the flop Cbet, definitively cbetting against one player ,against two it's more close but I don't mind it.
well played imo

I think without the CBet there I'm opening myself up to way to many double and maybe tripple barrel bluffs (of course I'm not paying off 3 streets there ever, so basically, just opening to let myself out of the hand.)
I think with the single CBet, I'm at least setting my own price and keeping my position.
Thoughts?

I think preflop, turn and river are more or less fine. The flop is the street I would take issue with, and I don't think I would cbet it. The reason is that there just aren't that many worse hands that call us in this pot.
UTG limpers usually have ranges including a lot of small pairs, broadway hands, and the occasional slowplayed monster like AK or KK+. This means UTG rarely has a 7x or 4x hand that can call, and he rarely has any pairs above 7x. He will also sometimes have strong Ax hands he's never folding, and there are only a few spade combos in his range even though we know he's calling with those.
An SB overcaller with a big stack in a spot like this will have a lot of middling to strong Ax hands, but not many 7x or 4x hands also – they'll have a lot of broadways they're just folding, and again there are only so many spade combos they can have. It seems like a spot where we're over-repping our hand to try and bet this flop for value multiway.
Interestingly, I would bet the flop if it were AJ8 or AT7 with two spades, because there would be a much greater number of hands that either a) made a stronger, but still second-best, pair such as JT, KJ, QT etc, or b) made a draw that was capable of calling a bet such as T9 or 98, or KQss/KJss. On the flop that actually came out, there are just not as many draws out there – just spades and 65.

I think betting the flop in position is ok, but I don't think you need to make it almost 2/3 pot in position…. I would just bet 1/3 or a little under half pot, it looks a bit stronger imo, and lets you barrel the turn for much less. I guess you can take the line of bet 2/3, then check check and hope your showdown value is good. As played, if you had an A with the spade draw out there against two players, wouldn't you bet turn to protect it? Against multiple players that's a bit of a red flag and I would lead river with any two from UTG sometimes knowing you probably fold weak aces and underpairs.
