Just had a spot where I questioned my play on the bubble and wanted to get some feedback.  This is two hands into the final table so no reads on villian.  I was in the sb 2nd in chips but just barely everyone is short at these as you all know.  Villian button rasies to 1800 and I ship 7k with KQo, I have him covered barely.

Is this two loose?  Should I be clamping down because of the bubble and my chip position.  Just wondering, I feel like its the right play but maybe I'm not accounting for the fact that I'm pretty much garanteed to cash if I just wait out one more player and then step up the aggression.

I would be careful with your logic in the last sentence. I think it is dangerous to think this way as an MTT player. You don't want to sit back and look to glide into the money as this is what so many players are doing. I think that your shove there could be fine, but I would need a few more details on the hand (stack sizes, blinds and any relevant history (i.e. has he been opening a lot of buttons or is this new). As far as a general statement I think it is better to ramp up the aggression level around bubbles (both money and FT) and attempt to exploit players trying to sneak in somewhere as much as possible. A word of caution here though, is you can't get to carried away, it is a delicate line to walk, but can be a highly effective way to build a nice stack.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  Def. need some more information but as a general rule its always better to be more aggressive in just about every poker situation.

This spot was only two hands into the final table, so I had no reads on villian such as previous button raises. Blind were 300-600 w antes, and I had approx. 9k so i had 15bb.  I am normally a very aggressive player and this play comes naturally to me.  That's why I ask the question should I cool off for an orbit or two and let one of the shorties bust instead of putting myself in what is likely to be a flip or a 60/40 if he calls.  Even with my 15bb I was 2nd in chips but there were many other stacks in the 10-14bb range.  Thanks for the responses.

In light of the enhanced description I would say I wouldn’t shove there. A ft like that is basically a 9man turbo sng and ICM is going to be the dominant consideration when making plays. Nothing wrong with being moe aggro though, if the villain is thinking he won’t risk his stack with the shorties so you should get a fold a lot of the time.

Yea I might look for a better spot as well, although curious what others think of the button raise. Can we assume he’s bad if he’s full 3x’ing instead of min-raising or shoving with 10-14bbs? Or can we read as strong since he’s not shoving? Or that it’s closer to AJ+ w/ a 3x raise vs mini? If he’s bad maybe he will fold after putting in 25% of his stack since it’s the bubble?

Maybe we can’t deduce much without more info against this villain, but what about in general? What do you all see more of?
