This hand is interesting. I’m not sure I love the open utg with this hand, just becasue it doesnt play that well when called, and with stack sizes around the table, there is a good chance we get flatted. When the bb 3 bets, I rarely think he is doing it light. It’s not a spot where people 3 bet with out a hand for the most part, especially if he is a casual player. I just let this one go preflop even though we have position. I like fold>call>4bet. However he just flats our 4 bet so we should try to range him. I would think that he flats everything to our 4bet but aa, kk, and maybe qq. Our 4 bet just looks super strong/polarized. So i guess he could have 1010-qq and aq+. On the flop i would probably prefer a check back. Does he call with anything that you have beat? You do bet him off his equity if he has aq/ak, but I’m not sure thats a good enough reason especialy since we can value town ourself against 1010, jj, and qq. Only cards we don’t want to see come on the turn are an ace, king, jack. If you are going to bet, then we do just have to get the money in if he jams since we will already have 40% of our stack in the middle. When he calls flop, his hand looks a lot like jj, qq, or slowplayed 1010. I doubt he peels flop with aq for a gutshot, or just flats with a flush draw. I think he would just check/jam diamonds all day. In any case, I think we are behind. I’m curious to know whether you jammed river to get him off a hand like jj/qq? I don’t mind that at all as we can rep an ace, but we obviously shouldn’t be jamming for vaue or anything like that. I’m trying to decide whether or not I would like a jam on the turn better. If we did have ak, then thats how I think we would play it. Either way though he has a real tough time calling with an underpair, and I like the jam because he never has an ace or better here.
