I actually misread the button position when I glanced at this table and didn’t realize my mistake until after I bet the flop! I thought he checked to me. Once I realized I donk lead I found myself in a strange place where I had to quickly figure out what my bet looked like to the V!
What do you do in this spot?
No real read beyond stats collected. Seemed average 27/23 3-bet 3%, c-bet 73%, fold-to-c-bet 67% over 90 hands.
[Edit: I didn’t add any of my thoughts on what V might have here as it would imply what I decided to do and I want to leave it a mystery for now.]

Most importantly, fold pre-flop.
As played, it’s not a bad spot to donk the flop. I’d call the flop raise. Turn is tricky, but I think I’d fold. You’re drawing to two outs against a lot V’s range, and even in the best case scenario where he’s bluffing, he almost certainly has at least two overs. Plus there are only two river cards that improve your hand in a meaningful way, so you’re just going to be faced with another close bluff-catching decision quite often on the river.

I did fold the turn here just because I felt I was likely behind (55+.A7s, maybe 89s, 67s) and I didn’t think I was going to improve very often. Really, only a miracle 7 is going to make me feel good about getting it in.
Honestly, in-game, my exact thought was simplified to just, “mostly over-cards, maybe a draw, and I am not improving”.
I don’t know if V c/r and double-barrels so strongly with just AK/AQ unless he felt he got himself in to trouble testing me and had to follow through. So, the only unmade hands I could think of were also draws and maybe only A4s and A8s. I think the turn was a blank unless V had A6s, 86s or two pair (which I didn’t think were as likely for a UTG open from a solid player) and c/r the flop because he didn’t believe my donk-lead.
The only hand that I think I’m ahead of on the turn, that might take an aggressive line like this, is 78s.

That’s the right way to think about it. Seems very unlikely to me that AK or AQ would do this, and 87 is a pretty bad turn bet by him as well. The fact that your hand is tough to play on a well-above-average flop for you, by the way, is a big part of why it’s a fold pre-flop 😉
