This guy was pretty loose but seemed to get away from hands without paying anything big off, so guessing at this point he is good LAG.
I felt on the river that I played it so badly that I might as well just fold since I couldn’t see how I was beating anything. This ties in to our recent thread about not being committed. I’ve managed to recover back to 31BB (still playing), so being results-oriented I’m glad I did. The guy said he had AA. No idea if this was a verbal bluff or not, but he flatted in position…I suppose he may have been capable of slowing down with AA to let me lead the betting and maybe pot controlled the flop…?
Anyway, rewinding time to play out the hand…what could I have done to play this better? I think I could have bet bigger PF, like 2950, being OOP, but I was thinking this size accomplished the same thing. Perhaps I should have just flatted PF, disguising my hand and keeping this flop cheaper to float?
As played PF, could I have checked the flop? I had a lot of equity.
As played PF and flop, should I have shoved the turn, turning my hand into a bluff?

Thinking about his ranges (forgot to add this). KsQs, QsTs are probably the only hands in his range that flop a flush, so not too worried. Maybe QQ, or a slow played KsKx. He said he had AA, but I have a hard time believing that. Any pairs for this guy. I feel like most overs are raising the flop unless they comes with a spade. My bet is either air or overs so maybe a hand like a scared QQ with a spade calls, but then the c/r on the turn…? If he didn’t bet the river I’d almost think he was bluffing, but almost no one folds the river there, even after checking, so I have to think he had something. I’m leaning towards an overpair like he says he had…played tricky. Crazy?

I think just a touch bigger pre (2600 or so).
You need to think about your plan before you bet the flop. With the stacks and the hand you have, I’d bet a bigger on flop in order to set up a turn shove. As played, nothing you can do but call turn and fold river when you miss, as you say, you beat nothing.

I think your betsizing needs to be bigger pre, but on flop I would probably be looking to check-shove instead of betting. I think it’s a flop that hits villains’ ranges reasonably well, but your best chance of realising all your equity (plus some fold equity) is to check, let them bet half-pot or so, and then rip it in there. If they check, you get a free card on a board where their checking ranges are quite vulnerable and you have great equity, so that’s fine too.
When you bet, you’re going to get peeled quite often, which leaves you in weird turn spots like the one you’re in. I think if you do bet flop, it needs to be bigger so you can shove turn, but the problem is you rarely get a fold on a blank turn card, so I prefer the flop check-shove. You can check-shove your spade overpairs too if you’re worried about balance – a dynamic flop like this is good for it with these stack sizes. I’m just betting with JJ though, since villains can have fewer Jx there so it gets checked around more.
As played, don’t think you have much option but to call turn and fold river, as you did.
