Poker Stars €276+€24 No Limit Hold'em Tournament – t1000/t2000 Blinds + t250 – 9 players

TournamentPokerEdge.com Hand History Converter

This hand was played last Sunday and was part of the Pokerstars.fr FCOOP.

The question is what should I do here pre flop?’

The OP in this hand is good and aggressive and is a winning player. I only have a few orbits on the table but he is the big stack and plays accordingly (it seems).

He raise (I think with a very wide range that my AQ crushes) I 3 Bet him with an expectation to get control or take it down right there. When he 4bet clicks me I get a little in doubt – and literally I think I could fold – call or move in but I am not sure what the best option is here. We are not that deep but we are both well above AVG. There is 313 players left and money to top 234 (480 euro). All in makes me get to showdown and might have some FE. Fold I have only invested 8% of my stack, Call I have POS but loose control and most likely miss and will not know where I am.

This is my first post here – Appreciate all input.

Cheers Allan

I think I prefer a flat pre-flop against a good agressive guy. Our hand will be well disguised etc. etc.

As played I think it's a sigh and fold. He raised from EP and clicked it back against a random who 3b's from the blinds – it's a really strong line here and unless you've seen him do this CIB stuff light in these same spots I think you have to let it go and then tighten up for a bit.

Flat in position pre and play post flop poker… You gave up the advantage of position when you 3 bet and have to fold to his 4 bet.

Agree with others. Think your 3bet sizing is too big also imo. Think between 9000-9500 is plenty and accomplishes the same things and also might induce weaker hands. Got to fold as played.

I think 3bet folding AQ would be pretty awful esp as we're deep and in position

3bet folding would be better with a hand without any showdown value

I wouldn't mind to just flat and play in position but overall i'm with coolers and would just flat pre for control and deception

If we can´t 3 bet call our range for 3 bet calling is??? I mean if we have JJ AK I guess we 3 bet call but with QQ-AA I guess we 3 bet get it in to a 4 bet?

Any way I like the flat the raise and play in POS – but it will polarize our 3 bet alot but might not matter to an early raiser?

here is what happend next:

calls t13500
Flop: (t55250) 4hjerter 2hjerter 5klør (2 players)
andThatsFine checks, Hero checks

Turn: (t55250) Aklør (2 players)
andThatsFine bets t27500, Hero calls t27500

River: (t110250) 6hjerter (2 players)
andThatsFine bets t101283 all in, Hero calls t74546 all in

Thoughts?

Checking behind on the flop seems fine to me and when the ace hits you are pretty much going to have to go with it. He doesn't seem worried by the ace, or that you called the turn, and given that he 4bet pre I think he could well be on a hand like AK now. I don't think he is 4betting 22, 44, 55 or 66 or any hand with a 3 in it, and if he had I would certainly expect a cbet on such a wet flop. Equally I don't think he has a flush draw as I would also expect him to bet that flop with it. Any big pair will also be betting that flop. I don't think A10-AQ is in his range but if he had been super agg pre with these hands then I would expect him to check the river and hope to get to showdown, I also don't think he is bluffing ever here and so the only hand that really makes sense is AK (or possibly an AA slowplayed on the flop, though that is unlikely given that 2 aces are out). Having said all that, I think that by 3betting and calling the 4bet pre you are now in a spot where you are committed the the pot once the ace hits.
