Wanted to get some opinions from the wealth of knowledge in the forum. This is a hand I played in a $350 live tournament which had 143 runners and 10k starting stack with 30 min levels.

Background: It is fairly early in the tournament. Antes have just kicked in. Hero has sneakily check-called with 55 on a Q958A board and got max value by doubling up against KQ. People know that hero is a fairly tight player since I have showed down only premium hands until now.

Blinds 150/300 with 25 ante, chip average is 12000
(V1) UTG (9275): Raise to 750
Folded to HJ
(V2) HJ (8700): Calls 750
(Hero) B (31500): AhJh – Reraise to 1875

Pausing here, what do you guys think about my re-raise? I thought if UTG has a small-ish pair, he might fold, and HJ is just coming in for the low price and might fold to a 3-bet. I do have a good hand to 3-bet here as well.

Resuming action,
V1 goes all-in
V2 goes all-in.

What do you do here? I am getting decent odds to call, plus I will still be around 2x average if I call and lose the pot. But in hindsight, I might be running into something like an overpair or where I am dominated and I am 4:1 underdog to AQ, AK etc. If I double up, I will have 50k chips which will put me in cruise mode until very deep.

Any reads on villains? Yes, the 3bet sounds good but with a call in between I'll probably 3bet a bit larger, at least around 3x. As played with these stack sizes it's close, it depends how many hands you put in villains ranges that you're flipping or even ahead

I don't like the 3bet for this reason. Your hand will play pretty well as a call, and 3betting opens you up to a shove. I'd rather do this with AJo, which will play less well as a call. As played I think you have to fold, there are too many hands out there that absolutely dominate you, and I doubt you'll ever have anyone dominated. All the stuff about “I'll still have 2x average if I lose” or “I can cruise if I win” is irrelevant.
