Guys,

I don't know if this is standard or not but what do you think to this pre-flop spot? Re-ship? I folded because big blind only 11 BB, plus an 9BB stack immediately to his left so opener can't fold if re-shipped on, on top of that he only has 14BB so it just screams strength. Flipping at best I thought, but then should I be taking this spot as I have just 23BB?

Thanks in advance for your time & opinion.

(there is some action in the hand so I'll post that in a day or two)

yeah I fold.  22-JJ are probably jamming here and this raise is probably only QQ+, broadways or a steal.  You'd be behind that range.  Wait for a spot to get first in.

Fold. He is OOP and min. raise witht that stack size means he is probably looking for action. At best your in a race for sixes to hold. His stake size could cripple you if called and the BB might choose to defend with his stack getting low.

Folding in a vacuum.

You need to consider chip utility in spots like this, think to yourself what is the best use of your stack given the amount of BB's you have, the table dynamic amongst other factors. In this particular spot, it is very hard to concieve of a range where you have > 45% equity so by calling (technically reshoving but you would assume you have zero fold equity) here you end up with 11bbs more then half the time which SERVERELY hinders your future strategy set. Passing up on such a marginal (in fact its almost definately negative cEV barring exceptional reads) spot allows us to preserve our stack and our strategy set remains wide enough for us to have a more then fighting chance.

to me it mostly depends what kind of player villain is. normally there should be no fe and i fold, but in 5$ tourneys i've often seen people open a <20bb stack and fold to a shove …
