I'm in the early stages of a $10+1 superstack tournament on Full Tilt.  Blinds are still 10/20 and I have no reads as we're <10 hands into the tourney.

I went on to check here.  Do you think I should have bet?  Probably not the most thought provoking hand but I wanted to get started with discussing hands here and this just came up.

Three handed I am usually just checking here. All kinds of weak Kings are in their range as well as the flush draw. I think you may well be ahead but this is not a spot I usually bet, I usually check behind and call a reasonable river bet unless a Q or A peels. It just seems to me youre only getting called by a K on the turn most of the time unless youre beat, but when a blank comes on the river you might pick up a bet from 77-TT.

I agree with Nairb.  I'm usually checking back this turn and calling a reasonable river bet on a non A or Q river.

awesome read of situation. agree totally. as a call on flop and a lead on turn is kicking all non K hands out missing tons of value on non flush, A or Q card on river.

good advice 🙂 I agree.

Does anyone 3-bet here this early when deep stacked? obv this deep it's hard to go broke with JJ unless you get hit with some sort of cooler. I probably 3-bet early here, setting up an aggressive table (and 3bet) image and I'm not really into set mining with JJ UTG+1. Just a thought. WP though nice check on the turn.

Some times I do 3 bet JJ preflop in the early levels but not against a UTG raise. Until we get some reads on the guy I assign a standard tightish range so I would expect my 3 bet to fold the bottom of his range leaving me just the hands that I don't have great equity against if he calls or 4 bets.

And we're not calling a 4 bet so we're turning JJ into a bluff a good amount of the time here.

I would have raised post-flop to try and chase the other opponents out, you would also get a possible read on the player(s) with kings, while repping one yourself. However, in your situation I think a check is approriate here.

why do you want to chase other people out? you have a pretty strong hand.

calling flop and checking turn is BY FAR the best line here imho
