I think i have a slight understanding of this concept through some of the videos that TPE PRO has uploaded, However I would like to see a video or someone to give a couple of good examples of Positive EV spots that you should be opening up when your deep stacked and 25-15 bb shoves maybe some hand rangess as well. I watched a couple bigdog tourneys and he states that if your not taking these postive ev shoves then your probley in the wrong buy in and so forth. I think understanding and adapting to the Postive situation will improve my game early and middle as well as the other TPE members who dont have a complete lock on this.
If anything in the history of internet poker has ever been “MUST READ” then it’s this thread.
edit- Note that this is a high stakes hand, and that these guys not only know what they’re doing, but also why it’s profitable to make the shove. I’m not saying that you should be jamming 25bb’s with QTo+ every time you get it, but this thread certainly shows you why it’s profitable. Look at the post Gobbo makes in post #17 for an idea of how wide you can jam, especially if nobody is calling you correctly. Something else to look at is the fact that this thread was made 2 years ago by a HSMTT reg– just goes to show that this game evolves, and quickly at that. People are calling these 20bb shoves lighter, but really only at highish stakes; we micro-fish can still get away with a lot of this shit.
I think it certainly stands to be a really good discussion on how this changes with different stack/stakes/players/images, etc., maybe a catch-all containment thread devoted to “Is this shove unexploitable/+EV?”
