One of the things that I have noticed as my game has started to get better from the use of TPE is how poorly the majority of players actually play the game of poker. From bet sizing, to calling out of position , to overbetting pots , to playing rags in multi way pots…there are a ton of reasons to be angry when one of these knuckleheads knock you out of a tournament and I used to get irate over the guy that hit the 6 outer or called with air to hit a runner runner…..but then I started to understand variance more and have come to the conclusion that what makes us so angry is the exact same thing that makes us successful….I have learned that I can't be successful at poker without those players making the mistakes that they make….so the next time you are rivered , sucked out on, or loose that 70 / 30 understand that your success is dependant upon that poor play…..take it in stride and understand that your downswing WILL end and focus on the things that you can control…..GOOD DECISION MAKING….without a doubt TPE and its forums and pro's have made me look at poker from a different perspective and as all of our games continue to evolve only good things can happen….gl bigheaddave

Amen to that…it is sometimes difficult not to get upset after you have been ko'd of a tourney by a fish making a poor play.  However, as you said, you want them making this play.  What makes things even more difficult to handle is the suck outs, but when you get it in good 80%+ of the time you are going to get sucked out on.  All I tell myself is that you got it in good and how the cards fall we have no control over.  You want the fish to not use the $23.95 membership on TPE:) I think  the most important thing prior to sitting down to play a session is to be in the best state of mind possible to play to avoid bad plays/tilt.  If you are mentally not in it that particular day, don't play. Variance is a big part of mtts, but as long as you continue to make the right plays, the edge will swing in your favor.

The forums and having a poker buddy(s) is huge to to discuss hands and particular spots that you find yourself in.  It is also great to have that person to talk to that shares the same passion in the game to get you through the downswings.  I have experienced a great upswing of late, but I had to have a visit with KB not to long ago at a time that I thought I would never win a race at a critical moment again.  He helped me keep things in perspective and continue to play my “A” game.

This game is evolving daily which makes it great..something that I also tell myself is that you are never losing, only learning:)

Agreed. When a spewtard hits a one outer on me I just say to myself that people like that is why I profit in poker, don’t think about how unlucky you are.
