Poker Stars $1.00+$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Tournament –

t30000/t60000 Blinds + t6000 – 8 players

At this point I haven't played with the villain very long and am basically readless, but I have stats on 13 hands: 23/23, from Chile and has a photo of himself wearing sunglasses dressed up like he's a member of the gotti family.

slaomaov (CO): BB = 5.9, t354457
Teetva (BTN): BB = 1.5, t90200
Hero (SB): BB = 9.3, t558317
FARTOVYI557 (BB): BB = 16.5, t988184
hazzy7 (UTG): BB = 9.1, t548091
kidcount (UTG+1): BB = 8.9, t532024
Kosmo22600 (MP1): BB = 8.9, t533182
Sugitz (MP2): BB = 7.9, t471960

Pre Flop: (t138000) Hero is SB with J of clubs A of clubs
6 folds

I'm in 10th out of 18 at this point.

I have trouble with spots like these because everyone is short and don't know if I should be raising here, or shoving. I find players with a profile pic like his happens to be a shove-monkey when you limp in the pot. Since I know he's going to shove most of his hands should I be letting him do that because I'm likely ahead, and ride the variance roller coaster? Or should I just shove it in his face? My SBvsBB play isn't great and would love some advice.

Cheers,

Bacchus

You only have 9 BB's and BB has 16 so any shove is a significant portion of his stack. I'm literally piling any two cards here. The fact that you have AJs is the nuts. Rip it in.

yeah, i don't get tricky here and shove pre…bb is going to be calling off light more than likely with the dynamics.

I am on iPad so I can’t do it now, but google “ICM Nash calculator” and click on the first link and put the stack details in there.

Pretty sure it will tell you to shove at least 60% and probably even wider than that.

Any a,k,q,j high, t5+’ any pair, and connector 45s+.

Something like that at a guess, I can double check this when I get home.

9bbs and I am pretty much open shoving this hand from any position, but especially from the button and sb.  I think that is pretty much standard, no?

I think it's pretty much a jam to any single opener. Now if there was an open, then 2 or 3 shoves behind it … I MIGHT find the fold button.

Otherwise, what are you waiting for, aces? You probably won't get them. Go with the suited ace. And from the sb, pretty much any two if you are under 10bb. It feels funny the first few times you shove

47 off or some such mess, but it works MOST of the time. except when it doesn't.

Here's the Nash Calculator that benny was talking about:

…..lator.html

I would caution you to use it as a starting point from which you make adjustments, rather than gospel, however.

definitely agree with that – as a baseline is is GUARANTEED to make you money unless your opponents play exactly the same way when it becomes breakeven.

usually deviating slightly is more profitable though, but nash is a pretty awesome starting point
