Hello All,

I have a question about poker etiquette at the table. I have 2 players that I play with that have a checkered history with each other at the poker table the last 5 years, this includes multiple disagreements, taunting and foul language. With that being said, these guys are friends, they just get under each others skin more than average at the poker table. Lately things have cooled “off” and there has been nothing of note except for some light banter. Last night in the middle of a SNG tournament they both had AK suited and all the chips got in the middle and one player won by hitting a flush. The player that lost and was felted responded with “SAD”, while the player that won countered with ” why sad, I’m happy”.  Is that appropriate etiquette in general? and is that appropriate to say even to an opponent that you have history with after felting him on a hand that TIES 88% of time?

Thanks,

OmegaPT1

Players gonna play. Haters gonna hate. Just make sure to draw for seats every time and smile inside when they end up next to each other 🙂

Eh, I wouldn’t call it polite, nor acceptable behavior of people I call friends, but really not that bad in poker terms. I mean, just google Phil Hellmuth.

Not a big deal IMO… If I suck out on such a hand, I am for sure happy for myself and feel just a little bad for my friend who got felted. Saying “why sad, I am happy” actually makes some other players on the table think I am a jerk, and some amateurs who think they own the game will try to play loosely and badly against you. So, if you can handle such action, I have no problem in voicing out my feelings like a jerk.
