I beleive that I have a good understanding of the game and I study poker like normal people study for their school classes. Saying that, it seems that I am at an inpass when it comes to building my bankroll. I withdrew my money over a year ago and just recently put $50 in Poker Stars again. I had it up to a little over $150 and recently been on a very bad downswing of Sit-n-go's. (I have been playing the 1.75/3.40 turbo SNG's) I have printed out my HH and reviewed them and I would say the majority of the time I make good decisions which is most important to me, but bankroll is hurting now. What other things can I do to improve my game? I have been watching the videos here (been a member for about 1 week) and trying to implement different things in my poker game. I have never lost a deposit before but it is looking like I will lose this one. Thats how bad of a downswing I am on currently.
Thanks

I would suggest going down in stakes and working on your game that way. You can consider it a investment in your education. If I am struggling with the dark side of variance, I will usually play the 1.10 sit and blows to work on my game. Another option is the $.50 sats. on FT for BTL, they usually pay a ticket to the first twenty places but you can turn your ticket into tournament dollars. The sats are pretty easy because people play to place not to win but it can build a bankroll. Submitting hand reviews in the forum is also a great way for improvement. Just some thoughts from a player who has been in the same situation before.

Thanks for the response. I started playing the $1.20 non turbo SNG's last night to build my confidence back up. I will deposit some money on FT to try the $.50 sats. like you suggested too.
One question though. I have never submitted a hand to be reviewed before. Do I pick out certain ones that I lost or just ones where I would like to see how others would play?

You want to pick hands that you were unsure about your move. It is also best not to show results of the hand. Check out the MTT strategy thread you will find lots of hands in there, someone always submits something that I had questioned at one time. When you play the sats. remember to play to place, the idea is build up enough chips and move to the next one.

The only way to get out of a losing streak is to turn it around. It took me a LONG time to do that and I was trying everything that ANYBODY would tell me. It simply comes down to putting in the time (when you can), getting lucky and having faith in yourself. In the last month and a half, I've had my 3 biggest cashes, first two tournament wins vs. 1k + fields and took 6th in another 18K guananteed tourney.
It will come, just believe in what your doing and what TPE is teaching. Apply it all and create your style of play and start crushing whatever you play.
Just the opinion of a Donk.
Thats true p-aire 146. It just seems that no matter what I am doing right now, nothing seems to work. I know that it happens but it would be nice for it to turn around soon. My confidence is a little shot right now but I try to be happy with my decisions and not the outcome. I have been watching the videos and trying to do some of the things that I beleive will help me.
Good job on your tournament success. I hope to some day have a decent cash in a tourny, but that comes after building my bankroll. One step at a time for me.
Thanks
Gabriel
It sounds like you have the right mental framework going on. Hardest part is to not lose confidence in yourself. If you think you are playing well and aren't sure, something else to consider if you can swing it is to get some 1-1 coaching. A lot of times there are some sutble things that you may not pick up that a coach can find and help you fix that can radically transform your game.

I have thought about that before too lespaulgman. I was also thinking of paying to have a HH reviewed first, then pay for the 1-1 coaching after that.
Excellent ideas. Best advice I can give is look for someone who plays in your style or in a direction where you would like to take your game and start a relationship exactly as you have outlined. Investing in yourself as a player will pay huge dividends.
Gabriel,
Like I said, it was only a few months ago that I ended my losing streak. Confidence in yourself and playing well are going to do it. Finding the leaks in your game. Everyone has them, it's just a matter of finding them and correcting them in a timely manner. And the MOST important factor, you have to get lucky at the right time.
It's going to happen for you. Just gotta keep at it. Keep a positive outlook and you'll be winning in no time.
