i limped trying to hit a set, and it was limped around, and then the button did a 4 x raise who did that raise with ace queen way earlier, but i put him on the button steal as there was my limp, the limper, the blinds and so his raise didn’t seem that big, and left himself to fold i thought.

my friend and i disagreed that i could of folded for the blinds were going to hit me next and i didn’t know if it was going to go up soon, plus i wanted to double up.

was this an easy fold, or marginal push , or good push?

fold or shove, do not limp.

1.  you don’t have good odds to hit a set, even if it’s a perfect world and no one raises since you will need to stack someone 100% of the time for odds to work out.

2.  You aren’t going to get a limp through that often.  It will get raised a ton.

Personally I shove here.

Take limping out of your game unless it’s really early and an overlimp with a small pair with huge odds.

agree with all of this.

i’ll definitely do some limping in the right spots, but knowing when a limp is ok is something that, imo, comes with playing literally thousands of games and i think that to just have a rule that you don’t ever limp is a fine one to have as you’re moving up.

why are u putting him on a steal? Are u saying that raising AQ on a limped pot  is a steal? Also how has him been playing? Aggro, Passive, ABC?

Also with your stack size i prefer a shove there, but you could find a reason for folding and waiting another orbit. Furthermore I think limping here is very bad due to your stack size.

IMO, Shove>Fold>Limp

he didnt’ raise ace queen from the button, he raised it from early position earlier. big differnce, and he was neutral  just standard 3.5 x

if you noticed by the results he did have pocket aces,  if he had ace queen so be it,, perfect for that makes me favourite but no , he had aces.

but i didnt’ put him on aces due to the button.

as for passive, aggressive, i dont’ know,, hem in replayer has him as dice.

so shoving would of achieved the same thing, easy call by aces.

Results do not matter.  What about all the other hands in his range?

if i shove i am playing against random hand ranges as there is no action to define the button hand range, with one good highbroadway out there.

so using poker stove shoving into 8 peopl with random hands i was 15 percent against 10 percent monte carlo, and putting replacing a few with big broadwayhands,  one person with pocket pairs from 10 downwards, and one person with a hand range of 5.9 (aceking, jacks, tens, some big broadways) that gives him 18 percent.

so I guess i am looking to see a preflop all in against a handrange that figures to be favourite then mine but i am still live as there is no guarantee the aces is out there on the button.

edited to add

if i am pushin utg into 9 people can i assume then that i am flipping against at least one , as it is unlikely that they all have random hands and someone will out there will have a goodbroadway or call with jacks, tens, (or hopefully 7s 8s ) so if i was to push utg with nines, can i put into poker stove for sure that if i get called i am up against big broadways, 5s and up, and good aces ?.

so I undertake the mentality that yes i am shoving, yes i am getting called, yes, i am behind a lot of hand ranges but ahead of others, and it is the best chance for me to get into the game ,, do or die baby?
