Found mysef in this tricky spot today. I'd been playing super tight, not played a hand yet of any significance. Rest of table are standard mix of donks/wallys. UTG+2 had recently sucked out with a some dubious holdings.

So would like comments on:

a) my 3-bet sizing – or should I have just shoved given the dead money in the pot?

b) given the two callers and flop texture, what was the correct play here?

I think for me in the SB AKs is a pretty large hand that no one is going to give you credit for so I think I favor flatting here and seeing what develops. I think the jam on the flop with two overs and the back door FD is extreme and is only going to get called by hands that hit the flop and put you in a spot where you need to get lucky. I think you can safely check/call a flop bet and see what the turn develops. Playing this OOP makes it hard as what I really want in this situation on the turn is to see if he checks or not to decided if I want to proceed. Early in a tourney remember AK is basically a drawing hand so I would play it like a draw.

I think considering all the dead money in the pot (500) and passiveness pre-flop I just jam it in with AKs as it's best for AK to see all 5 cards. This is a $1.00 tournament so I would gamble it up and try for a quick and dirty double up. I would not be suprised to see weaker Ax hands and small pairs here vs UTG+2 limp/calling.

It's probably a 'mistake' to shove some many big blinds this early in an MTT but I say go for a stack early or load up another MTT.

I'd just jam and try to collect the dead 500 or whatever it is. No one has shown much strength here.

I remove flatting here since I don't want to see a flop with over half the table and when we 3 bet stacks are super awkward when we miss the flop as you can see above…

Thanks for the replies – I wish I'd shoved as I think I would've got everyone to fold. As Metasploit says, either get a great double up or bust out and start again.
