Edit: I think it was a PKO MTT, I am not sure, I don´t know where to find it on HM2

In non-bounty tournament I’d flat-call this probably 90%.

If you 3bet here and get flated by one of the Vs, you’re playing a hand which flops very poorly OOP in a 3bet pot. Without a very strong read I don’t see much reason for doing anything else here.

In PKO I would consider shoving here depending on the bounties, but I see it’s an early level so I assume those bounties are not worth risking 90% of your stack, especially given that you cover almost everybody on the table and you can find plenty of more profitable opportunities to win bounty.

So I will flat call hoping to flop a set or steal the pot by check-raising on some dry board.

I would also just call in this situation either PKO or not. By adding up the antes, SB and BB you are almost getting the correct odds to call and set mine in this situation. If you add in getting one of the players stacks if the set does show up you have more than the right odds to call in this situation.

With the implied odds of hitting the set you are getting way better odds than you need.

I am calling this every time. Well, 95% anyway. I guess for the purposes of some kind of balance I am shoving it sometimes also.

Are you check-raising only as a bluff? Or are you c/r your set of 8’s also? Obviously this depends on the board, but about 2 years ago I came to the horrifying realization I was c/r as a bluff only! I was never c/r my v. strong/ nut hands. Any time I c/r, it was 100% a bluff. I wonder what the correct ratio of nut/bluff c/r % is? My guess is that if you are c/r your nut hands at all, you need to be c/r your nut hands 75% and bluffing 25%. I have studied balance for years and I’m still clueless lol.
