Parx BigStax $300.  HUGE event, normally gets lots of regs, clowns and area pros.  This tourney is a REBUY as MANY times as you'd like.  I'll rebuy, but normally not more then 3-4.  I'm on bullet 1 and DO NOT want to play saturday (Day 1d).  Want to come back for day 2 on sunday.  I have cashed in this series LOTS in the past.

Villian:  w/m 45-50yrs, looks like a mountain woodsy type of guy.  decent player.  Has ok results live toureys.  We are familiar with each other. He knows and said, I'm a better player then him and hates having me next to him because of how aggro I can be in spots.  He is on my left, has possession on me.

Me: w/m 40yrs, a known reg, Taggy at times.

I'm NEVER limping, Im opening a few pots here and there.  Was down a lot early, then took chip leader of tourney middle of day.  Been doubling shorties last few levels.

ONE more level till we bag for night.

1200/2400 400 ante  (table of 9 players)

Villiam:  150k

Me: 140k  (4h4c)

I'm UTG+2, OPEN to 5100

Villian flats

FLOP: J94 rainbow

I cbet 7k

Villian flats

TURN: 7 (no flush on board)

I bet  9k

Villian:  raises to 26k

* what's your move?  Flat, raise, fold, call Ttwist & BigDog?

RECAP:

HERO, opens 5100, villian flats, J94, I cbet villian flats, 7 turn I bet 9k Vill raises to 26k ??????? What's my move?

If you have history, you have better info on how likely he is to 3bet jj or 99 pre flop. I think your hand is usually best. It seems unlikely he is calling preflop with T8s, and if he is, he’s also got j9s and 97s in his range as well.. I would call to keep his range wide and plan to check call most rivers.

I'm not a fan of that turn bet. It feels really small, and more like a blocker bet or “i'm going to continue repping a hand I don't have bet”.

As played, I'm never folding turn at this stack depth. I'm with TheClubber though, that we have now turned our hand into a very strong bluff catcher and we should likely flat and check/call pretty much every single river. Obviously there are a few that put 4 card straights out that we will have to consider if he absolutely bombs it.

It's possible that he slow played QQ+ pre, knowing how aggro you can be. He can have AJ here and be looking to find out where he is in the hand. I know i'd take this line with AJ lots vs aggro guys whom I know to double barrel.

The problem I have with raising at this point is it will commit us to the hand, and he's likely only shoving with a range that we aren't not in good shape against. If we ourselves shove, he's very rarely calling with worse.

I guess turn is kinda close between 3b and call? I mean 3b has gotta be the vacuum play but I guess if you know this guy to be passive/nitty about raising…. I don't get why you'd ever bet 1/3 pot in this turn spot with any hand, you should want to bet more with your bluffs and your value hands. Honestly I think flop shoudl be bigger too.
