Not a pro but….I attached a link to an article that outlines some of the high level strategy. I've played two dozen or so at $1 and $5 level and noticed big differences from the DoN games I used to play. Apparently Sit and Go Wizard has this format incorporated into the software now so you can experiment with the ICM considerations.

Basically they can't be played like a DoN because the chips you accumulate have added value. So to play super tight looking to make the money will not be profitable long term. Read tha article and do some quizzing with sngwiz (they have a 30 free trial if you don't have it).

I actually love the $5 games, I have cashed in over 75% of them.  I am getting ready to try four tables at a time, I have only been doing one or two. If you are a micro stakes players this is a good bankroll builder IMO but you need to multi table to see any real profits. The games are pretty quick to.

The rake is higher. The way to find out whether these are profitable is to look at the Sharkscope leader boards in about a month's rime.

I was crushing the first 400 I played for around 20% ROI but I played a few hundred more which haven't gone so well down a bit but many due to some bad variance. I can't even count how many times I've ran QQ, KK, AQ, or AK into AA shoving from late position it's really sickening.  I'm not sure I'll play a few thousand to make a better opinion of them but I will say due to the structure people are calling much lighter on the bubble even 1st vs 2nd stack but it's nice when your deep and the guy shoves rags when you have AA 🙂

Thats interesting.  I guess if you consistently are in the money you'll win. But just seems like the hourly would be lack luster.  But i guess if your someone who gets disheartend from not booking a win in a while they might be ok.  They may be really good for someone who is just getting into poker on a hundred dollar roll.   Dollar ones might be great.

Unless you accumulate chips making the money will not be profitable enough. The last two spots basically get their buyin back and a few cents. I don't want to grind for hours to see that I broke even on a session.

People do call off lighter in general which in most cases is correct because of the payout structure. You want to be top 3 in these just like a regular sng not just making the money…obv. it's better than busting 6-10 but 4-5th won't be profitable it will be break even.

As Brandon says above it may take a bit of time to see how profitable these games can be but to me it seems like exchanging nickels for nickles. my 2 cents.
