most of the time its not worth calling imo – a double stack at this early stage isnt really worth that much more than your original 3k. so probably QQ+ and thats it. not even sure i call with AK as i feel you are flipping most of the time.

not sure if that is too nitty though

yeah agree with benny – if the guy does this you can way more easily get those chips without so much risk through the rest of the tourney

probs QQ+ and not AK also

had the exact spot today in a $8 tourney and folded JJ

I did work quite well to openjam nuts a couple of months ago. I feel that I got a lot of calls then, but nowadays villains are kinda nitting up in these situations and don't donate the chips w AJs anymore. What I still do is overjam over a open in rebuys, where I get a lot of calls. In freezouts over 10 Dollar I believe the openjam is more or less dead, as you get called way to infrequently.

However a couple of fish still like to JAM wider that premium hands, but it is incredibly difficult to get a read on these players, as you hardly ever meet them. Therefore I agree with the super-tight calling range vs unknown, as more often that not it's a premium hand, trying to look fishy.

In a $50 f.o buyin I think QQ+ and not AK

In anything less than $20 f.o or Rebuy I think I call JJ+, AK. Reason I like to take this/gamble in the smaller buyins is because the structures are usually worse and I feel I can do damage if I get that double early.

Def agree with Tiny and the open shipping AA/KK first level.
