I am currently still a losing player withe regards to ROI. Due to previous bad playing etc.

But now mind set on living eating thinking poker 24 hours a day. Book reading combined with TPE membership I have increased my ITM% for 2013 to 17-20% and getting better monthly hopefully.

I was just wondering what the average ITM% would be regarded as satis/good for sole online MTT playing $15-$55 buyins with fields from 100-1600 players.

Cheers as always.

I dont know but I think yours is a little bit higher than some of the sickos I have seen. I think this usually means you are not taking enough risks to build a final table sized stack before the money and may be min cashing too often.

yeah the ITM could also be due to some positive variance over a short sample. id let yourself play a couple thousand MTTs first before determining your “true” ITM %.

i think mine hovers at about 12-14% most times and most winning players i know do, too.  a small number of winners cash something like 5-8% but are profitable because when they cash they just seem to run deeper. perhaps implementing a high variance style of some kind.

in general, since tournaments pay about 10% of the field, any ITM % > 10 is a good indicator that you're playing structurally sound poker

chris covered it pretty well, but i thought i would just add a few things

i play pretty much the same stakes tourneys as you, and my ITM hovers around the 19-21% mark. having said that though, i have had significant winning months where my ROI is 10% and losing months when it is 25%

i tend to play smaller fields given i play in australian night times and i also play quite a few small field tourneys on tilt and 888 so i would think my ITM would be higher than people who play exclusively big field stars tourneys, but in general i dont think its a stat you should pay too much attention to – it matters MUCH more what you do in the mid to late stages than it does on your cash percentage. you could bubble 20 tourneys but then win one and that would make much more of a difference than 20 min cashes

so i would advise not to worry about your ITM, being around 20% is great, but as long as its not 5% then you are at least making it semi deep into tournaments, but you might have some other leaks, either in your push-fold game or maybe you are too tight on the bubble or something else.
