I have noticed one of my biggest leaks is when I am in the BB and someone limps preflop. They make small bets on every street and I call them down with some
sort of inferior hand. I end up playing a hand to the river that I should never have been involved with. Anyone else do this? What are some of your leaks? I think if we identify/talk about them we can break them…

I am definitely guilty of that one, especially when I don't believe they have anything. My biggest leak is my early play. I have been struggling to figure out a solid strategy for accumulating chips. I am working with watching the Bigdog's early play vid and I have to watch Panda's as well to work on closing that up. Seems that I am either getting out of the early stuff and in decent position, or getting crippled and out early. I managed to end up making in through half the field in my first Sunday 250k and my early play was a big part of that, just got slammed on an unlucky AQs to AKo call, but what you gonna do. I am curious what others struggle with.

+1…… i have really hard time getting stack in early stages too. i wait and wait and wait till i get that premium QQ and KK then go bust when i cant win the race against AK….AK kills me everytime.

One of my biggest is similiar but a little different

When the SB or button make a raise and I am the BB I often 3-bet shove when I really shouldn't. Been trying to break that habbit. I guess it is me projecting my play on to them, as I know how light I often am when I raise in that spot.

Im guilty of raising a limper with a hand I would be opening and never giving the guy credit for having anything simply because he limped. Lately I have found people limping AQ, AK and even QQ.  Then they just let me bet flop and turn and then they bet river if I check or min raise me on river  or some wierd line that I never believe.

Here is my leak in a nutshell(not saying i don't have more). Flop good and then KNOW i am beat but cannot fold. Just burns me up.

Not a bad beat just really really bad play on my part.  Plus one should have bet more on flop with all draws large mistake but i don't think this fella would have folded for much of any price.

I don't stay aggressive enough later on in MTT's. I need to learn and take advantage of squeeze spots, 3 bet spots, and uninvested 4 bet spots and not be afraid to bust making a move.

MY biggest leak is giving too much credit, currently working on it.

Sometimes I also get married to my hand and call their4 bet shove, which is the 1st 4bet shove they've ever done after 40-50 hands, until I realised that of course they have a good hand, they are so eager to get their money in the middle that they will shove it, and of course my KJs don't look so good anymore, so why did I call it!!!??? AAHHHHH!

Wyledeyed:  You made a nearly pot sized bet on the flop and he called with a gutshot….not much you can do if folks are willing to play that way except realize that you will make money in the long run vs. donkeys who do that.  I do think you can fold the river because any J has you beat.

I am not sure which is the worst river card. The Q that came or a J. Either way the villan in this hand already had done some really unorthodox stuff. Any way I have a hard time folding when I take the lead especially when i flop really well but the board gets ugly. Just ONE of the things I have to work on.

One other thing looking at this later. If I am gonna call it off on the river I should have just bet called the damn turn. sigh.

This is tilting me two days later.

This is a really cool thread.  One of my biggest leaks is paying off rivers.  I  posted this in my WSOP ME blog but during a conversation I had with a great player he said to me “some people hate to get bluffed on rivers, some people hate to get valued on rivers.  Be the guy who hates to get valued because they usually have it.”

Pretty eye opening advice.

Ron, I really like that, it is some pretty sage advice. With my game right now I think I just hate rivers! Yell

I find most river bets are for value these days. I also hate paying off rivers but I do so even though I know im beat alot of the time.

Some of my biggest leaks:

Shoving all in over a few limpers deep / late in an MTT.

Not thinking each hand through

Making rash decisions without taking the proper time to THINK about what his range could be and what he has.

Getting 'pot greedy' aka when the pot gets so big then I just shove all in and try to steal it because I have invested X amount in the hand.

I find that I call in spots where I should be raising and thus i'm losing value where other players get max value.

the list goes on and on

Hey guys. All good leaks to notice and work on so far.I notice that my big mistakes are usually mid-late game where im now trying to look for every 3-bet shove spot w 15-22  bbs since watching these vids.Feel like I need to notice

when im getting called more.

So last night was another eye opening evening in terms of leaks in my game. I get into situations where I convince myself that there is no way a guy is on the range I think he is and my hand has to be good and when he 3bet shoves or when I get caught in a stop in go in the mid/late stages of a tourney. I think that I am going to have the best of it regardless of what my reasoning has said because some part of me wants to just call and gamble. I need to figure out where that little voice is, tie him up, put him in a treasure chest and bury him in the ocean cause he's killing me! Yell

the biggest problem I see with members of our site is that they slowplay way too many hands.  Get chips in the middle and play a big pot when you flop a good hand.  It seems like there just so much value being missed.

+1. I often find myself folding the better hand when I get 4bet shoved on, worried about busting.
