I played in a satty to the Arizona state poker championship 1 million Gtd today. It was held by a bar poker league and it was 120$ buy in and they paid 10% of the field.. 10k starting stack and 30min blinds . When my friend first told me about this tourney I was excited BC I felted based on the structure I had a edge.
And also ahead of the player type likey to play.
I was more surprised to find out that 20 players was only regged and was even more pumped.. I arrived about 20min before start and was sizing up the field.. Typical bar league crowd everyone knows each other and they are bouncing bad beat stories back and forth. Just based on looks and conversations flowing i started labeling players..
So as i draw table 2 seat 7 Im glad I find out im on the left of a a kid I pegged as competent and probably played online.. Other wise I had a soft table.
Nothing happens for the first to rounds for me other then taking into account that the standard opening size was 4.5x and a guy 2 to the right of me was limping his whole range.. He showed down a pot with 57o and KK.
Before break I get it in AK vs a limp call JJ from earlie position .. We spike a K a double.. About 38k going into break.
Few rounds later and we are on the bubble of Final table and we are sitting about 40bbs and in 4/11 the tourneys starting to play short however they players at my table are not really stack aware. So I decide that there a huge fold equity swing so instead of push shoving 10bb as I would i figure if I get to that point I could dwindle down to 5bbs.
I’m on the bb at blind 1000/500 with A10ss and everyone folds to the SB who is the limp my eniter range guy. He completes a 7bb stack. I pause for a bit before moving all in… He tank calls A2 and the board runs 22Q x x .. NH bro.. This dude then goes on a run to move almost dead even to 1st in chips.. Final table..
Sitting 6/10 with a 15bb stack..
I double first hand JJ to KQ .. Then a few shorties fall and we are 5 handed and I’m the shortie..
I move all in for a 9bb stack with J8cc and the BB thinks. Looks at me and slowly calls.. He flips over KK.. Hahaha douche …I flip over J8cc and the board runs out QQ8 7 8 … Bink!!
A few hands later we find ourself 3/4 and on the bubble …not of getting a seat but the next player out in 4th gets nada and 3rd is getting at least their money back and 1st and 2nd get the seat. The stack are really close and the blinds huge were just picking up an uncontested pot moves the order.. So it’s folded to me in the SB with about 15bbs and facing the 2nd chip stack with about 20bbs.. The smallest stacks is juggling 5bb so here my thought process I’m not interested in getting my money back I want the win and get my self in a position to lock up a seat.. With K4dd i decide that I don’t like a shove here and raise 2.5x he calls… This player I have as a good thinking player and he could be looking to exploit my position and bet me off most flops.. The flops rolls out 4c 10h 6h.. I actually like this flop I think I’m good here a lot of the time. So I take a bit and notice he his staring me down .. I think he is taking my slowness as a sign of weakness and as I VAULE bet my K4 he insta shoves.. Now A.. He could be doing this with a whole lotta.. He the one player I know that he knows the type of situation he has here.. And can be using the small stack agaisnt me..I really can’t place him on a nut hand or a set or 2pair for that matter as he would get it in pre with any pair or big cards.. I’m guessing he might have a suited connector type hand and drawing .. After a few mintues in the tank I come to the conclusion that he could have more air here then a made hand And plus if i win this hand pretty muck lock up a seat..And I call off.. He says good call and flips over 32hh I flip over my K4 and the turn blanks but the Ah finds the river and I bubble in 4th..
After I left I kept thinking I should of folded pre… But that’s being results orientented and I think raising 4 handed SB vs Bb is standard.. Thoughts how would u have played it.. Was my play fine?? Did I spew? All thoughts are welcomed .. Pretty bummed so go easy on me..
Thanks in advance

As to the hand in question, just shove pre. Since this guy is good, you shouldn't give him the opportunity to outplay you in position. As played, you really can never fold this stack size once you hit the flop, so raise/call seems fine.
Also, as far as posting goes, try to keep it to information relevant to your question. It really doesn't matter how you got to the final table, or how bad the rest of the field was. Tell us the closest to exact stacks from the hand in question of all 4 players, the exact value of the payouts, and your reads on the remaining players. Many posters will give up halfway through your story and not even get to the question.
On a satelite bubble, you have to shove/fold. You don't really want to play pots at this point especially out of position. If he understands how satty's work, he can shove here without having much as long as he knows you arent strong considering the absolute first prize and chip dynamic.
yeah unfortunately i agree with everyone else. a shove here means hes gonna only be able to call with very strong hands bc losing to you means he's pretty much bubbling as well. with a 5bb stack hes not going to be willing to gamble, arguably, with even KQs.
shove or fold pre and based on the structure id say id lean toward a shove. picking up ~2.5bb moves you to 17.5+bb and amongst the top 2 of 4 remaining. id be willing to open (or shove depending on stacks) my buttons so that if/when called i can play post in position rather than out of position as you did here.
