Limp pre is fine. You’re looking for that exact flop, and you got it.

3-bet flop to maybe 1200 (pot size)? Then if someone shoves you have an easier decision (roughly 2:1 odds) with a nut flush draw.

No it isn’t. The fact that this is a close-to-best-case scenario and is still a kinda marginal spot is a good indication that the pre-flop limp is not good.

Help me take a step back here. Granted, I’m pretty tight preflop and would always fold this, but in my quest to widen my preflop  limping range (only when there are limpers ahead of me) and wanting to balance small pairs with it, is K6 too weak for that? It doesn’t make sense to me to raise. Or do I need to be deeper than 26BB to make this play?

You really shouldn’t be doing much limping behind when shallow. There’s just not room for speculative plays. Either you have a hand with a lot of equity, in which case raising is generally better, or you don’t, in which case folding is generally better. It’s not a range you should be questing to widen.

Great advice. This is one area of my game that has me spinning. I find habitual limpers cause me to make mistakes a lot. I don’t know if I should ignore them outright, open bigger or limp behind.

Has TPE ever done a video series or podcast on this?

Some insight in to my confused thinking:
 – I tend to just add the limps in and open bigger. For example, where I might open 2.2BB I’ll open to 3.2BB.
 – I think I default to limping behind a lot (more than I want to admit) with hands that are lower in my open-range just because I don’t want to open bigger and if I open for 2.2BB I’m guaranteed a call (and probably invite more callers).
 – I guess I should take the view that iso-ing a wide-opener for under 1BB is a pretty cheap way to exploit
 – I’m starting to wonder if some people who limp 50% of hands are actually playing it as an intentional style. I’ve seen enough bad players limp hands and the suddenly raise with good hands, but I’ve also run in to a few players that seem to limp their entire range and play their image in a self-aware way, only investing further in made hands and good draws. Their range is super hard to narrow down and I’ve handed over a lot of chips when I’m dominated because I feel safe betting my KQ on a Qxx board when V has limped AK (3 times last night, once going bust with K9 turned TJxQ).
