Hi friends… well today i won a satellite tournament for the nighly hundred grand at Pokerstars.. and i could not unregister from it (as i would like to do), so i played the tournament..

703 entrants, I ended 19th.. earning 580US$.. i believe i played some solid poker.. but i don't know how to feel right now.. being so close to the glory.. and lose is a hard hit.. even though i won money and increased my bankroll.. I just feel down for my last hand that made me quit the MTT.., that @#@¢! river killed my dreamsssssss and broke my hearttttt :(. Winning that hand would have mean plenty of chips and i would have secured my arrival to the final table.

this will be a new boost but i just feel akward at the moment. I feel i could have won that tournament or end in the first three places, i mean i believe i have the skills to achieve it, but it will be really hard to play it again and do such a good tournament.. because it is out of my limits for now.

Any advice or opinion is welcomeembarassedclub

This is quite heartbreaking.  That river is so painful to see. frown

That said, I don't think i would have done anything differently.  JJ is too strong a hand to pass up when you only have 14bbs.  You need to accumulate chips right now.

Don't think you made a bad play. Even though it is heartbreaking river, you not only won your seat, but played well in the tourney. laugh

Ugh what a brutal river.  You made the right play and just got unlucky…..nothing you can do about that.  All you can control is how you play and that is all you can worry about or this game will drive you crazy.

Your gonna see 1,000 more brutal rivers like that when getting close to a huge payday so the lesson to be learned here is to learn to deal with it better. A brutal river like that could have easily have happened when u were bubble or maybe after barely min cashing…..it is just the nature of NL Holdem. Be glad you got as far as you did and played the hand correctly. If you keep playing correctly, one tournament will surely go your way when your hands will hold up beautifully. No reason to lose sleep over it man….give yourself a good game and sleep well!

it's easier to see it only as “variance” or equity when is somebody else the one that lost! smile. That's why tilt is so powerful. Still haven't slept since that river… just kiddinglaugh, but indeed it's still hard to swallow.. I have never felt a “tilt” like this before. haha, now i really know the meaning of the word. Thanks for the advices and answers anyway cool.

It definitely sucks – but you gotta keep your head up and move in.  As someone in this thread has said, there will be 100 more of these.

not trying to be mean.  Just think that mental preparation is sooooooooo important in poker and you have to take these things in stride.
