This is why I am reluctant to play on these types of sites as I prepare for the 2019 WSOP. Strangely played hands that are not indicative of how a hand would be played against better players. I won’t say more since that would give away the spoiler. That said, these types of opponents probably results in some crazy variance in the short term, but is probably +EV for you over the long haul.

I have been trying to post a response all day to your new KTo call of your UTG shove thread but I keep getting a Forbidden 403 error message. So I am going to post here. I just used icmizer for the first time to enter your TT vs KTo hand (hopefully I did so correctly). The results are that villain called your UTG shove too lightly with KTo (although he certainly has the chips to do so). ICMizer says that for villain to call your UTG shove profitably he needs to be doing so with 99+, AQs+, AKo.
Again, for anyone else reading this, this is not a response to this thread.
Guys, yes! That’s exactly what I was thinking too! I just purchased the Pro version of SnapShove this weekend and came to the same conclusion. I just wasn’t sure if for some reason stack size that large would change how we respond. That said, I originally thought “oh, he’s calling way to light here” but usually I have to double check myself to make sure I am thinking correctly. After finding a similar calling range that you have posted rppoker, I thought, “I knew it!” and it’s usually in those moments that I end up being wrong. So this time I tripple checked by posting that hand for you guys to comment. Glad my thinking was correct. I moved up in stakes this weekend, where I was usually playing the freerolls I am now firing at $0.55 to $3.25 tourneys. I have to say I played my heart out this weekend and kept running into spots like this: Where I was way ahead and then crushed by the river. Or, I would get my money in SS and all of my opponents would seem to wake up with a better hand…ugh. I know I am complaining so I don’t mean to bring down the energy but those situations are extremely frustrating!
As for the error to post on the KT hand, that seems weird. I’m going to try and post on that thread and see what happens. Thanks again guys.
Rppoker, you’re planning a trip to the 19′ WSOP this coming summer? I am as well, hopefully we can get the chance to meet each other. Did you guys check out the new podcast? Killingbird and Marc answered my questions about the Vegas trip on a budget. I am looking forward to it. I have never been to Vegas before, so it should be fun. I can’t wait for the TPE party too (even though I don’t drink) I just want to meet all you fine fellas. I love the TPE community!

Maniac: Just keep getting your money in good. Poker can be frustrating, but one day the stars will line up and you will win the flips you are supposed to win (and one or 2 you aren’t), and run super deep in a tournament. Remember this: You are a good sized favorite with AK vs AQ, but you are basically a coin flip to win 2 in a row of these.
Being able to do this online is even better. I am only a live player, so I just get one tournament a day to play. When I lose an all in, I am done for the day; you have other chances.
3for3, I keep telling myself that, too. I’m telling myself that I am building up a gigantic karma bank of of these situations and eventually it will even itself out (hopefully during a bigger tourney 🙂 ). I love playing live, I live 20 mins away from my local casino and they host a $15 twice a week. So I know what you mean. How come you don’t play online, if you don’t mind me asking?

Yes, I will be going to the 2019 WSOP for two weeks. I am hoping to play in four $1500 or less NLHE tournaments during that time, although it is possible it will have to be three of them depending on the schedule. I figure I will play in some Daily Deep Stack tournaments if I get knocked out of a bracelet event on Day One and have a couple of days until my next bracelet event. Usually the WSOP schedule comes out in late December/early January. Once it does I will pick my dates based upon how the NLHE events are scheduled and book my trip. I will post my schedule when I figure it out. It would be great to meet up. I am really looking forward to going.
As for the variance of getting it in good and then losing once the cards get dealt, that’s poker. Variance is a part of the game. Learning to deal with it is important. If you are consistently getting it in good and losing, don’t be results oriented. Eventually the cards will fall your way. As long as you keep getting it in good, you are making progress. Back in the pre-Black Friday days of online poker when I was playing online a lot I found that it was a good idea that if variance was unfairly biting me in the ass, it was usually a good time to take a few days away from the online poker tables to avoid playing frustrated/on tilt/not enjoying myself.

Maniac: I live in Las Vegas where there is never a shortage of tournaments. I usually play 3-4 times per week. Keeping a balance between that and tournament bridge, video poker, and the rest of my life would be impossible if I also played online. I also just plain prefer playing against real people, not icons :).
I did have a bit of an even it out day yesterday; I was all in twice with way the worst of it; JJ >AA and A9s>AK, and won a big coin flip with AKs vs TT. On to day 2 of $400 buy in Venetian, alas with only 20BB when average is about 45…

Awesome, man! I agree, I prefer playing live much more. For me, it’s cheaper to play online and I get more experience. Otherwise, I’d probably only play live if I could.
Awesome, man, good luck on day 2. Keep me posted!
