Hi im a new member at tournementpokeredge, and I wanna start saying this site is great 🙂 Im not so familiar with the forums but im curius of what u guys say about multitabling. I play about 12 mtts a time, and aprox 35 per night…
Im getting bored if a play less but i also know that i miss a lot of oppurtunities and spots which I would catch if a played fewer tables… So what do you guys think? how many tables are “optimal”?
Sorry for my bad english, im a swedish donk 🙂
Hi there.
I multitable MTTs, I play ~15 a day and depending how long I last have from 4 – 10 going at a time. When I go deep in one more I move them to one side and focus more on them so you don't miss spots. During early/middle I think you can do just fine using HEM and then focus more when you get deepish.
I never multitable more than 3 tourneys at the time, maybe 4.
Its not about getting bored, there are better things to do than playing poker if u are bored… Unless u are really good, if u multitable 10 or more tourneys at same time, you are not playing poker, you are playing your cards only.
I like to play on weekends about 8 tourneys a day and make sure I have done no mistakes even if i didnt get much money out of it, instead of playing 35 tourneys a day, burned loads of cash, missed spots, and make many mistakes….
but thats just me…
Having said this you know the pros play a bunch of tourneys at same time and have lots of profit…
I play between 2-4 at a time to ensure I don't miss what's happening on any of the tables and to make sure I can mentally stay ahead of what's going on and what my plans are. That being said when I play turbo SnG's then I usually play 8-12 at a time since they are substantially more mechanical in nature.
It depends entirely on your motive. For most that is profit, which is why many pros mass multitable, despite the fact that they will miss many spots and have a much lower ROI because of it. However, the math is quite simple – if you're making $10/hr/table playing 4 tables and $4/hr/table playing 12 tables then the choice is easy. If poker is more sport for you then play as few as possible to keep it interesting while still allowing you to pick up reads and exploit the dynamics of the table and other nuances.

This. I've been playing on AP and Tilt and will usually do 4-6 at a time and will move one off to the side once we start getting deeper. Since I play buy-ins $20 and below I can generally rely on HUD stats and then playback large pots to see how the action went. I also make player notes consistently these days which has helped a lot already.
