multi entry for shot taking

I love the new multi entry format for MTTs in my buyin range … but are they a good tournament to play when I want to take a shot?

I'm usually playing in the $10-$50 range and I'm thinking about playing the FTOPS #22 $130 event. Usually the FTOPS events are pretty soft compared to the buyin, but since event #22 is a multi entry format, there are already several pros with 4-6 entries in it. This obviously decreases the value of the tournament – if there were like 30-40% fish in the field, now its more like 5%-10%. Is it still worth it with the amount of fish in it or should I just sat into a non multi entry sunday major?

It just seems like multi entry tournaments are not the greatest value for shot taking…

Not something I have any experience with but like to take a swing at a possible outcome. Once the weak/min bankroll players see how much there chances are reduced why would they not choose a more level playing field by simply picking another tourney therefore quite likely another site. Shark infested waters paying 6x their buyin sounds like a receipe for many to quickly be taking to lower stakes for maintaining proper BRM.Therefore I can't see this being a long term success and even the short term is minimal, bloated jackpots. Feels like the NASDAQ in 99. Everyone sees and wants the big score, not accepting their part in collapsing the very structure the cash is flowing from. laugh The structure dies not FT they just take a small hit in appearance and players, both can be recovered.

unless you plan to 4-6x it as a shot, i'd skip it and sat into something else for a shot. as you can see, any other reg playing is playing at least 4 bullets, and i think not doing so yourself is putting yourself at a disadvantage.

i'd suggest the warm up, the early 150+13 on FTP, or the million.

Thnx guy.

I've already decided against it after going through the registered players the last couple of hours. Right now there are 61 registered red pros alone. With the online regulars, this field will probably be playing almost like a 100r lol

I guess the multi entry MTTs are pretty popular and won't disappear for a while. FTOPS #22 got 23k entries!! Event #24 also has 11k entries for a $300 buyin .. that's half a million for first place. WOW. With those 2 events alone, FTP has made $460k in rake .. talk about a money machine.

I really loved the the multi entries for $25 and below .. but the more I think about them the more I hate them. It seems like they make it more difficult for the random fish to bink something and spew it all away at higher limits. FTP and the regs suck the money out of the poker economy at a higher rate and games will become a lot tougher a lot sooner it seems. Just like the 10/180 SNGs or the rush cash games .. awesome at first, but after a while there were only regs fighting over 5% of randoms/fish.

I doubt that people will stop playing them and I doubt that FTP will stop running them…

yeah black, that seems to be what most people think (apparently shaundeeb echoes your sentiments on the latest 2p2 pokercast).

fortunately, aside from certain FTOPS events and a handful of regularly scheduled MTTs, MEMTTs are not widespread.

and FWIW, i don't think that playing the 120KO would have been a bad shot if you played 4-6 entries, but that playing 1 bullet would have put you at a disadvantage to those who were.

i found that tourney to be unreal soft, although it is going to be tougher deep than your average 23k person field.

yeah I'd take a shot at the sunday warm-up or million on stars.  I really think they play like a $20 dollar tournament.

Ya def take a shot at the warm-up or million……the structures leave a lot to be desired real late but the softness of the field makes up for it imo.

Thought I made this comment a long time ago.
