Hey, im sure many of you are like me in that you grind up your rolls playing MTT sngs and take your shots playing MTTs, lately i've been mass-multitabling every 4.40 180-man and 6.75 90-man KO that runs while playing all the small stakes MTTs that are on the schedule, and just using the auto-refresh info feature on TN to determine if the tourney is a SNG or MTT to adjust my strategy, however ive found that i've been going super deep in every big MTT that i play at the end of my session when there arent many tables up, and i almost never go deep in the MTTs running in the middle of the schedule, when i have 15-30 tables up bc im prolly missing a lot of spots.

So im wondering for those of you who are like me, do you have SNG days and MTT days, or do you play both at the same time?

30 tables?  well maybe you are missing spots, but it's most likely variance, also at the end of your session you are really only in the ones you are deep in.  Anyway, I play mostly MTTs now, but occasionally ill have a SNG day.  Back when i played a lot of the $12 180 mans, I would usually play just them in one session, and maybe 1 or two of the MTTs you just can't miss.  Or any of the turbo ones because they mesh well.  Personally i don't think it is a great idea to mix and match too much, because the strategy is so different for both, and push fold really becomes your mindset 30 mins into the turbos.  Then you won't be three-betting correctly and set mining in your MTTs because you are in a push fold mindset.  The non-turbos are a lot better and you can probably get away with a few of those, but if you want to put in 15+tables of volume it is wise to make the tournaments as similar as possible.  I only play mixed game tourneys when i am only playing a few tables for a little extreme example.

Personally, I've found that Sngs, Cash, and MTTs are different monsters.  If I do grind SNGs, I do it on seperate times.  It's just hard for your brain to focus on different parts of poker at different times.  Push/fold is so important in SNGs, whereas in MTTs you can be playing 100bbs+

I agree with jshilling… Its just too tough  switching your mindset constantly between 15min levels and 5 minute turbos. Playing turbos you really need to keep an eye  on when the blinds are about to get raised and I keep forgetting about that ehan I mix in other MTTs and blind down too low before I make my moves.

I can also play 20-25 tables when I play MTT-sngs with the same structure for all of them. When I play MTTs I find it much more difficult so I have set the maxium to 12 and I think that works out pretty well. also when you get deep in a MTT you really need to watch the play closely so you know who to steal from, who to stay away from and such. You dont get the real flow of the game only using a hud and your play in the late stages of the tourneys with likes thousands of players is such a big part of your roi overall so you dont want to play 30 tables when youre reaching the big money in one of them.

I wish I played something that gave me 100BBs+…cool

How about separating the tables? This is what I do. I put SnG's on one screen and MTTs on another????????

I play a lot of SNGs at the same time as MTTs and have very little problem adjusting back and forth, but I play 6 tables max and usually only 4 so it may be easier than those of you that mass multitable. Over 5-6 tables and I can see how you could miss spots but I always keep turbo tables just a little bigger than regular speed to remind me about the 5 min levels. I agree it is easy to forget and blind down getting sometimes 6-10 hands per level. Usually I mix in SNGs toward the end of a session when I have 2-3 MTTs left instead of all through the session too.

Definitely this.

It takes a special and very talented player to play several different forms of poker at the same time and be playing them correctly. I don't think your average player is capable enough of this.

For days when my time is limited I will either play the 90 Man KO's on Tilt or 4-6 table my usual cash games. That's depending on my mood and energy level. If I feel confident and good I'm playing cash and it's not even a close decision.
