ok, I know I misplayed the hand, but what would be the best line?

he was 23/13 after 120 hands, when he calls the flop/turn I thought his range was A9, AT, AJ, AQ, QJ, flush draws and maybe TT, 99, 87.

on the river I thought he would check behind AJ and AQ (thats why I should bet), I think his bet is more value than bluff, because he should expect to get called often.

should I check the turn and if he checks behind, bet the river?

or bet flop, bet turn, bet river and fold to raise?

or something totally different?

thanks for your help, and sorry, english is not my native language

I dont mind your line Pre flop and flop, on the turn you could bet bigger to charge more for draws with what you feel is the best hand still.  I am fine with the check on the river.  str8 draw got there and he might have played 2 pair like that.  the only hands you beat are AQ, AJ, and A7 or worse.  or flush draws.  the question is IMO if to call the river or not, and I would do that based on his post flop aggression history, you have 120 hands so you must have had the chance to see how he played other spots post flop.

I dont see how else you can play it and lose less, but at the expense of being called a station confused  it might have been worth the call if he had been active post flop.

I think you went wrong on the river. This is an easy check/call on the river….NOT check/fold.

I also dont mind pot control and check/calling turn and river.

I'm usually betting this river, theres some draws that missed and theres still worse aces in his range,  If im checking the river, its because  im check calling and checking to give him a chance to bet his missed diamonds whereas he would just fold otherwise if I lead out. Betting even makes your hand easier to play becuase they if you get reraised you may beable to eliminate AJ and AQ but in this spot those are still hands he could be value betting river. Check calling is ok to keep pot small so you dont get raised off the best hand, but I dont think check/folding there is best play.

Bet flop, bet turn, bet river > bet flop, bet turn, check CALL river

I narrow the range for flatting flop this wet, I agree they're in his pf range, but flatting a flop this wet starts to narrow it down to draws/hands villain wants to showdown cheaply/with our range open as far as possible.

The turn only confirms this range for me, he can't show up big flatting here, naked draws should be gone, the riv is a must c/c imo, cant just put him on JQ and fold

i'm thinking random draw/same hand/AQ/AJ thinking value>>KdiamondQdiamond>>>>QdiamondJdiamond

like the bet sizing all the way based on texture/response from villain

i think c/c and b/f are both ok on this river but i prefer check call.

if you fold on this river you have just wasted a monster hand. sure, he could have QJ some of the time but he has AJ/AQ a bunch of the time as well. i dont think these hands check behind as you suggested because of the fact that diamonds missed and you basically never have QJ or 2 pair after checking so if i had AQ i would think its good nearly all of the time after you checked river and would be value betting.

I personally like betting on the river to  block or get value when called by a worse A.  If raised can safely fold..I like c/c on the river for the bluff catcher, but by betting the river you can control somewhat how much you want to bet.  With being so deep I don't think this is a bad play at all. I don't think I am folding on the river.  You are deep enough with a strong hand and you can also pick up info on the villain.

Why are you folding this river? The only hand that got there was QJ.

He SHOLD be raising any 2 pair hands or sets on the turn hoping for you to get it in with your AK AQ before the board turns scary on riv and while all draws are still live (incase you have suited connectors). So I think he has AT A9 or sets here rarely.

I LOVE the check on the river allowing villain to barrel his missed flush draws or his ‘two pair draws’. For the same reason I HATE the fold.

Bet flop, bet turn, bet river > bet flop, bet turn, check CALL river

Stats of 23/13 do not tell me he has a hand better than ours, most of the time we have him beat

If you Bet 2 streets and check the river it doesn't matter what I have, I am going to fire as it looks so much like you are just giving up. I think his range is wide enough there that you can go ahead and fire all three streets. You had looks a lot like a busted diamond draw on the river so if he has the same hand he can feel very comfortable in trying to blow you off. As played it is just so passive,  he hasn't played back at you at all which means that more than likely he doesn't have a huge hand (i would expect some sort of a re-raise earlier in the hand if he had a monster). Go for all three streets here.

winner winner chicken dinner.

You don't get 3 streets of value from worse hands as often by betting 3 streets as you do from betting two streets and checking on the end.

Ya only big mistake here was chk/folding river.  I think I play it the same maybe bet a tiny bit more on turn and I'm always calling the river here.

I appreciate all your comments!

Seconds after I folded the river, I knew it was wrong. Thats my problem. While I'm in a hand, my brain sometimes doesn't work properlyfrown

After reading all your posts, I think c/c would be my preferred line, because I think you can extract most value.

Of course it is villain depending and I would b/f vs some players.
